I like the outdoors and have camped for years. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com Cherry Plain state Park 10 State Park Road Petersburgh, N.Y. 12138 (518) 233-5400 A good place to take a vacation. Look for a place to set up your campsite and pitch a tent and build a campfire. Could rent or bring your rv or camper. Could be cabins in the area and lodging. Bring a generator to power the camper or campsite. Review things before you leave to go camping to be sure you have all your things. At Cherry Plain State Park there are trails you can go hiking on. Has 175 acres of land. For long hikes bring a canteen for drinking water and a backpack with change of clothes and some basic medical supplies if someone gets hurt. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. Cycling biking, and jogging are popular and can be done on the trails. Canoeing or kayaking on a river or lake can be lots of fun. The park has a boat launch. Take a dip in the water on hot summer days. Bring a raft or go tubing. Take a dip on hot summer days to cool off. Scuba diving and snorkeling can be lots of fun. If motorboats are allowed, water skiing is a blast. At night take a dip in the water and the water is warmer. Bring your fishing poles and there are many kinds of fish that can be caught fishing. After, return to camp and cook fish if you catch any cook on the campfire. Wash dishes in a container with soapy water and a second container with rinse water. There are many kinds of animals in the forest. You don’t want any coming around looking for left-over food or dirty dishes. While away from camp be sure you don’t leave food out or while people are sleeping. Take long walks in the woods and enjoy the outdoors. Have a picnic and there are usually picnic tables at a park. Can play board games or play cards. Corn hole, ring toss and horseshoes are fun games. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw around a football. Playgrounds for kids are usually at parks. At night kids can play laser tag. Get a telescope and watch the stars or constellations. Play hide and seek. Has 2 pavilions and prices range from $75 to $100 and can accommodate 80 to 100 people. A maximum of 2 pets are allowed and must be supervised at all times. Proof of rabies vaccination shall be presented if staff requests. Pets are not allowed in some areas of the park.
