Lake Durant State Campground

Review things you to bring to be sure you don’t forget anything. Find a location for your camping site. Pitch a tent and build a campfire. There may be cabins and lodging in the area. Bring a rv or camper with a power generator to the site for electric usage.                     At Lake Durant State Park there are many hiking trails in the Adirondack Mountains. Hiking would be fun as to there is a 133-mile-long Northville- placid trail. Long and short trails in a heavily wooded forest. Can go on an overnight backpacking adventure. Wear good, cushioned sneakers or boots while hiking. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. Bring a canteen with cold water to drink. Bicycling and jogging are popular the trail.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Lay in the sun and get a suntan. Take a dip in the water on hot summer days. Go for long walks in the woods. Have a picnic and picnic tables are available at the park. Activities at camping also include corn hole, ring toss and horseshoes. Board games and playing cards. There are playgrounds at parks for kids. Throwing around a frisbee and football. Playing catch with a ball and glove. Playing Volleyball or soccer with groups of people. At night kids can play laser tag. Can get a telescope and look at the stars and constellations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Bring your fishing poles and spend a few hours fishing. There is a wide variety of fish that can be caught at the lake or streams. Have a cookout later for dinner. Be sure to wash your dishes in a container of soapy water and a second container in rinsing water. There are animals in the woods and can smell food a long way away. You don’t want to attract hungry animals to your camp. While away from camp be sure to have food put away and a night while people are sleeping.                                                                   Can go boating, canoeing and kayaking and renting is available or bring your own. Tubing and rafting can be lots of fun. Boating on a river be careful about currents, rapids and your boat tipping over. A lake has deep water and life jackets are a good idea. Scuba diving and snorkeling can be lots of fun.                                           Dogs are allowed at the park and must be kept on a leash. Any other information call (518) 352-7797.
