Gilbert Lake State Park Camping

Review things to bring with you so you don’t forget anything. Find a location to set up a camp site. Build a campfire and pitch a tent. Bring a cooler with food and beverages for your stay in the woods. There are cabins in the area and other lodging. Can bring a rv or a camper. Could bring a power generator for the camper or campsite.                                                             At Gilbert Lake State Park someone can go for long or short hikes on paths. I’d bring a canteen for long hikes. A pair of cushioned sole sneakers or boots for hiking purposes. A backpack for long hikes and a little medical supply if needed. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. Bring a camera for taking photos on your camping adventure. There are 3 ponds and some hilly terrain and a heavily wooded forest.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Bring your fishing poles and there is a variety of fish to be caught. After fishing, if you catch anything, bring back to camp and cook above the campfire or on a grill for a cookout at dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one in soapy water and the other with rinse water. There are a variety of animals in the woods that can be hungry looking for something to eat. Good idea to not leave food out while your away from camp or while people are sleeping.                                                                                 There are many activities someone can be doing while camping. Play corn hole, ring toss and horseshoes. Play board games or cards. Throw around a frisbee or football. Play catch with a ball and glove. There are playgrounds at park for the kids. Use a telescope to look at the stars or constellations. Kids can play laser tag at night. Hide and seek and play tag.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Go for long walks in the woods. Have a picnic and there are picnic tables at the park. Riding bicycles on the paths and jogging are popular. The park has a beach and can lay out for a tan and take a dip in the water on hot summer days. Canoeing, kayaking, tubing and rafting are lots of fun on a river or lake. Be careful about swift currents, rapids and your boat can tip over. Wearing a life jacket would be a good idea while in the water. Could go swimming at night and the water feels warmer than the daytime. Scuba diving and snorkeling are fun.                               These are some of the things to do on your vacation while camping.  Pets are allowed at the tents and cabins and should have their anti-rabies injection.
