Possum Kingdom State Park TX
UncategorizedI’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like to camp and like the outdoors. 3901 State Park Rd. 33 Caddo TX 76429 (940) 949-1803 A great place to take a vacation. Review things you’re wanting to bring so you don’t forget anything. Find a location to set up you camp site. Pitch a tent and build a campfire. A cooler would be a good idea with food and beverages. The park does have a store for things someone would need. Bring a rv-camper if you like. The park has water and electricity sites. Have a generator for where power isn’t available. There are some cabins to rent, but not many and have air conditioning. There is other lodging in the area at hotels and motels.
Can bring or rent a canoe, kayak, or boat to go on a river, stream or lake. Strong currents and rapids can tip over a boat. Wear a life jacket as the water is very deep. Lay out in the sun and get a tan on hot summer days. Possum Kingdom State Park has over 300 miles of lake shoreline and scenic coves. Can go scuba diving and snorkeling. Could go tubing or rafting on a river or lake and is lots of fun. Water skiing is a blast. Jump in the water at night and the water feels warmer.
Bring you fishing poles and there are large striped and white bass, channel and blue catfish. You do not need a license to fish along the shore at the park. Bring fish back to camp and cook on the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash the dishes in a container with soapy water and another with rinse water. Try not to leave food out as animals can smell food from a long distance. You don’t want animals going through you camp while your away or at night while people are sleeping. Possum Kingdom Lake is near 3 small towns and has restaurants, art museums, entertainment, and much more.
Go for long walks in the woods and have a picnic and there are picnic tables at the park. Play board games and cards. Corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes are popular. Play catch with a Frisbee or football. Volleyball is a fun and popular sport. Throw a ball around and catch with a glove. There are playgrounds for kids at parks. Can play laser tag, hide-and-seek. Look at the stars with a telescope and constellations. Always keep your dog on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length. Do not allow your dog to dig, disturb wildlife or become a nuisance to other park visitors. In Texas state parks pets are permitted at most campgrounds and trails and are not allowed inside buildings. Thank you for viewing my site. Thanks for this introduction of Possum Kingdom Campground. We are traveling to Texas this summer to visit our son who is working in Dallas. It isn’t a long drive from the Park to Dallas so we will likely rent a car and stay at the park the entire time. I am interested in the fact that you don’t need a fishing license to fish from the shore. There are plenty of sites for our RV which is small. The rates are quite inexpensive. Thanks for the tip about this park. It is very timely.
