Review things you to bring with you so you don’t forget anything. Find a location to set up a campsite. Build a campfire and pitch a tent. The campground has 101 sights throughout the area. Bring a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. A rv-camper with a generator in case there are no hook ups available at where you camp. There are several cabins and lodging in the area. Enjoy a good night’s rest in the Louie B. Nunn Lodge, overlooking a 10,000-acre lake. Enjoy lake side scenery while dining in the restaurant. Barren river has a Marina with boat rentals available. At Barren River Majic there are several nature hiking trails to choose from. Always have good boots or sneakers for long hikes. A backpack for temporary camping overnight and to continue traveling the next day. A canteen with cold water to drink. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Have a camera to take really good photos to look at later.
Canoe, kayak, and boating are lots of fun to do on the river. Be careful as to there are strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Wear a life jacket for safety. Water skiing and surf sailing are popular activities. Bring fishing poles with you and there are many species of fish. Fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are catfish, bluegill, bass, and crappie on Barren River Lake. After fishing bring your catch back to camp and have a cookout at the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in two containers, one with soapy water and the other for rinsing water. There are many animals in the woods and can smell food from a distance. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp and at night when people are sleeping.
Lay down on the beach and get a suntan on hot summer days and take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Tubing and rafting are lots of fun and to ride a current downstream. Go scuba diving and snorkeling in the river. Play volleyball and other games on the beach.
Take long walks in the woods on paths and trails. Have a picnic and there are picnic tables at the park. Play board games and cards for fun. Corn hole, ring toss, and horseback riding are popular activities. Have an 18-hole golf course. Play catch with a frisbee or a football. Throw around a baseball and catch with a glove. A shuffleboard court is located near the lodge. There are 3 playgrounds at the park for kids. Can play laser tag and hide and seek. Kids can play tag and skip stones in the river or lake.
