Grand Canyon AZ Camping and Hiking
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 506 Grant St. Suite 0 Flagstaff AZ 86004 (928) 825-1552 A nice place to take a vacation away from everyday things. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your camping site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. Rv-Camper with a generator in case there are not any hook-ups available. There may be cabins to rent and lodging in the area. The canyon expands over 277 miles in length and offers some of the best hiking in the world. Averaging 10 miles in width and a mile deep. All Grand Canyon backpacking starts near Flagstaff Az. To plan out your camping adventure would be a good idea. How many days to hike and so on. Could backpack and set up a camp for the night and continue the next day.
Can take a guided tour of the canyon. Have good, cushioned boots or sneakers for any hiking. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along the trails. Jogging, walking, and mountain bike riding are popular activities. Cell phone connection may not be available in certain areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to have with your camping group. Look at the scenery and have a camera to take photos to look at later.
Canoes, Kayaks, to paddle downstream on the current and there are strong rapids that can tip over your boat. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Water ski and wind sailing are popular activities. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. Have a cookout back at the campsite over the campfire or grill for dinner. Have a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. There are animals in the area that can smell food from a distance. Washing the dishes cuts back on the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while away from camp or at night while people are sleeping. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to float down the river and enjoy the day. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfire smoke helps keep flying insects away. There are many activities such as board games and play cards. Corn hole and ring toss are popular activities. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Have a picnic and relax on a hammock and read a book. There are playgrounds for kids to play on. At night they can play laser tag and hide and seek. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones in the river or on a lake. Pet policy- Leashed pets are allowed on trails above the rim. Please clean up after your pets. These are some of the activities you can have while camping. Leave a message if you like at the comment section at the bottom of the page. Click on my e-mail and can leave a message also. Very informative article about camping and hiking in the Grand Canyon!
The suggestion about keeping 2 cans- one with soapy water and the other for rinsing is a great idea. Washing the dishes to cut down on food smell- I loved this camping-hike. I am going to use this in whichever camping site I go.
The photographs looks so fascinating – I idea of kayaking down or simple taking a dip after getting a sun-tan is too exciting to hold.
Thanks for sharing this great write-up.
Regards,
Rohit
Hello! Thanks for your reply. I like that location also. Havas Falls at the Grand Canyon is another location that is pretty good. I like the idea of kayaking myself.
I have always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon and reading this post has made me even more eage. Swimming at night in warm water sounds wonderful. I am planning on coming to the US next year to visit family and doing a road trip is on the cards. A visit to the Grand Canyon is something that we just have to make time for. How many days do you suggest we stay to enjoy everything?
Hello, nice to hear from you. I definite would make plans to go to the Grand Canyon. I plan to go there sometime in the future. Depending how long your here and so on I would spend at least a couple weeks in the Grand Canyon area. I have another article called Havasu Falls and that’s in Arizona and that is a beautiful place and if I was you would try to spend at least a few days there.
Another gorgeous camping site! This is much closer to me than the other one you wrote about in Montana, although I still want to go there. But I definitely think Grand Canyon camping is a must. Judging by your article, there’s a lot more to do there than I realized. I was aware of the kayaking and river rafting, but I had no idea there was scuba diving or water skiing in the area. Those are both adventures I’d love to take part in sometime soon. I always figured I’d have to head out to the coasts for something like that, but apparently it’s not far from home. Thanks for the info!
Mark
Hello! this is a good vacation spot and plenty to do there. I used to scuba dive in a river near where I grew up. Some rivers are quite deep in areas, and I always usually had fun at that. They have jet ski at the grand canyon and depends where at about water ski. Actual first thing I thought about was canoeing or kayaking at the Grand Canyon, but there’s more.
