Carson NM National Forest Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. 208 Cruz Alta RD. Taos, NM 87571 (575) 758-6200 A beautiful place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your camp site. Build your campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. Rv- Camper with a generator in case there are no electric hook-ups available. Rent a cabin and there is lodging in the area. There are many hiking trails throughout the National Forest. Planning ahead to what hiking trails you would like to take is a good idea. From small trails less than 5 mile long to more than 20-mile-long trails. Wear good hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for any trail hiking. Canteen with cold water to drink along your hike. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, walking, and jogging are popular activities.
There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to have for a group of hikers or campers. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Canoes, Kayaks to paddle around and look at the scenery and enjoy your day. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Wear life jackets while boating anywhere. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Water ski and wind sailing are popular. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Hundreds of miles of cold-water streams and numerous lakes are home to trout, brown and native cutthroat trout. A fishing license and trout stamp are required in New Mexico. There are several small lakes stocked with rainbow trout. After fishing head back to your campsite to have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. There are several species of animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and can come to your camp hungry. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while your away from the camp or at night while people are sleeping. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft and play around in the water or just float around and relax. There are activities you can play corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on a river or lake.
There are picnic tables at the park, and you can have a picnic. Take walks in the woods along paths and trails and sight see. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Pet policy- Pets are allowed at most camp sites. Must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet. Please clean up after your pet. These are some of the activities you can have at the park. Leave a message if you like in the comment section at the bottom. Can click on my e-mail and leave a message also.
