Watkins Glenn State Park N.Y. Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp a new location. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 1009 N. Franklin Street Watkins Glenn, N.Y 14899 (607) 535-4511 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from everyday things. This is the most famous of the Finger Lake State Parks. Locate a place to set up your camp site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. Rv- Camper with a generator in case the are no power hook-ups available. Rent a cabin and there is lodging in the area. Has an incredible 19 water falls at the park. Trails for hiking that go quite a distance. Scheduled summer tours through the gorge. The gorge trail is qite a scenic trail along the gorge with waterfalls. There are steep steps along this trail. There are several trails and is a good idea to wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles. Mountain bike riding, walking, and jogging are popular activities.
There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good idea as a substitute to have in your camping group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfire smoke helps keep flying insects away.
Canoe, Kayak, to paddle around a lake or river and enjoy the scenery. Rivers have strong currents a rapid that can tip over your boat. Wear a life jacket for safety purpose. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Water ski and wind sailing are popular activities. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or along the shore. There are rainbow, brown and lake trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, salmon, sunfish, and yellow perch. After fishing, bring your fish back to your campsite for a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. There are many animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while away from your camp and at night while people are sleeping. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play out in the water and enjoy the day. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games or cards. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw around a football or frisbee. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer.
There are playgrounds at the park for kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on a river or lake. Pet Policy- Pets are not permitted on playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools and spray-grounds, or guarded beaches. Leashed dogs are allowed on outer rim trails, but not on the gorge trail. Dogs must be on a leash at all times and no longer than 6 feet. Please clean up after your pet. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is much more. Leave a message in the comment section at the bottom. Click on my e-mail and leave a message if you like. Enjoy your camping adventure wherever you decide to go camping. Jeff GTM-T7JH657

Nineteen waterfalls are a lot of natural resources to see in just one park. My wife will like it that we can come in with our fishing boat and net. The Watkin Glenn state park is a great place to spend holidays and cut from the hustles of my year-round work. Top of it is other activities like corn hole ring toss that can keep my mind, soul and spirit away from work
That does look like a good place to go to and is very nice. I would make plans to be there for sure. I would make plans to go at a good time when it has rained recent. As of now haven’t got any rain in the past almost 2 weeks and if I was to go there would be after it rains so waterfalls are at the full potential. Just a thought and it should be rainy soon hopefully as summers usual get in that area.
As an avid camper and lover of scenic beauty, Watkins Glen has long been on my bucket list, and after reading this post, I am more determined than ever to make it a reality. The vivid description of the park’s famous Gorge Trail, with its mesmerizing waterfalls and lush greenery, has ignited my sense of adventure. Imagining myself walking through the misty paths, surrounded by towering cliffs and the soothing sound of rushing water, fills me with a sense of tranquility. I can already picture the countless photo opportunities that await, capturing the raw and awe-inspiring beauty of nature.
I remember talking about Watkins Glenn State Park N.Y when we planned for various camping trips. I’m not sure that we actually camped there, though. It is a good reminder to keep food and all odors of food away from your campsite. I have heard of bears visiting a relative’s campsite. That you don’t want to encourage. Beside, it spoils the wildlife when they do not stay “wild” but become too used to human interaction; that can cause problems!!
Waterfalls are my favorite. I love hiking to see the beauty of waterfalls. We have done that more than once. Niagara Falls is majestic, but the ones in the middle of nature are just as beautiful, and not commercialized. And the beauty of them can take your breath away!
Good to hear from you again. This location is really good for anyone. I’m sort of near Watkins Glen an hour and a half away. The finger Lakes region as a whole is a beautiful area with good camping places. I have been through that area a few times and Watkins Glenn would be a real good place to camp and there are 19 waterfalls also. Your correct about a waterfall that isn’t way known about where lots of people go to as commercialized would be better.
