Horn Creek Grand Canyon Village AZ 86023 (719) 783-2205 Looking for a place to take a vacation get away from the usual everyday things. Review things to bring so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. Rv – Camper with a generator in case there are no power hook ups available. There are cabins in the area and lodging. Located in the Grand Canyon and there are several hiking trails in the area that range from small to long trails. Have a plan for which trails you plan to go hiking on. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles. Can go backpacking and set up camp for the night and continue the next day. Have a canteen with cold water on the trails. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, walking, and jogging are popular activities. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to have for a group of campers. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. The campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away.
Canoes, kayaks, to paddle on a lake or river and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip your boat over. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Water ski and wind sailing are a blast. Bring your fishing poles as there are some species of fish to be caught. There are largemouth bass and rainbow trout to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. Take your catch back to the campsite for a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. There are many animals in the area that can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp or at night while people are sleeping.
Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around on or just enjoy the day relaxing. Can float downstream and go along the flow of the river. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. There are playgrounds for the kids to play at. Play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones in the river or lake. Pets are allowed at the park. Dogs are to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Please clean up after your pet. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. There are picnic tables at the park and get things ready and have a picnic. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. This is the best one yet Jeff and offers such a wide variety of outdoor summer activities that I don’t know how any family looking for a great place to hold a family vacation could ignore Horn Creek AZ Camping ground when planning their next vacation.
I am sure being located in the Grand Canyon there will be ample opportunity of many kinds of hiking and other outdoor adventure possibilities.
Great advice on keeping camp clean in order to keep wildlife from foraging around. Have you ever had a bear or other dangerous animal show up in your camp?
