Greetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and new places to camp at. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 1824 S. Thompson St. Flagstaff AZ (928) 527-3600 Wonderful place to take a vacation away from the usual everyday things. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your camping location. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. Could take an RV- Camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups. There are cabins to rent and lodging in the area. There is Tiny Camp, Mormon Lake Lodge, Oak Creek Terrace Resort. 
The Coconino National Forest has 1.856 million acres of land and natural beauty. There are several trails from short to long you can go hiking on. Can go on a long backpacking adventure and set up camp for the night and continue your hike the next day. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along your trail hiking. Good idea to plan ahead about what trails you would like to hike on. There are streams, lakes, rivers and waterfalls at various places throughout the park. There are several activities you can enjoy such as Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, 3- or 4-wheel vehicle, walking, and jogging are popular. Fireworks are not allowed at the park. May be a good idea to call ahead or plan to what area you want to set up a campsite. There may not be any cell phone connection in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to have with a group of campers. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfire smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. There are plenty of things to see and visit at Coconino National Forest. The Cathedral trail, Courthouse Rock, the devils bridge, Chimney Rock, Seven Sacred Pools, Devils Kitchen sinkhole, Brins Messa Trailhead, Coffee Pot Rock, Boynton Subway Cave, and uptown Sedona are some of the places you can visit.

There are over 100 species of animals at the park. Animals can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp and at night while people are sleeping.

You can get all the beauty and wildlife without having to suffer the summer sun. There are playgrounds at the parks for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on the river or lake. An hour outside of Patagonia Lake state Park is the Karchner Caverns State Park. This unique park makes for an excellent getaway. Cave exploring is a popular summer activity because it allows explorers to get out of the sun for a while. Karchner Cavern stays warm even in the winter, this allows exploration all year round. There are picnic tables at the park or sit on a blanket and have a picnic. Take long walks on paths or trails and go sight see. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Pet Policy- Dogs are allowed in the forest as long as they are contained (as in a vehicle or cage) or leash at all times. Pets are not allowed at Red Rock District Heritage Sites. It is nice to know that Arizona camping is also assessable outside of the hot summers, because lots of times this isn’t really possible, and off-season the campsites are closed. Does it snow there during the winter and is it still possible to get there with a car easily or would it be to dangerous? thank you for this information.

This camping adventure would be an all-around good vacation in my thoughts. The park covers more than 1.8 million acres of land. Someone could take a scenic drive and start at Oak Creek Canyon which runs North- South on SR 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff. Volcanoes and ruins loop scenic drive which begins 12 miles north of flagstaff on US 89. Watch for the Sunset crater Wupatki turnoff forest road (545) and turn right into Sunset National Crater National Monument and continues to adjoin Wupatki National Monument. There are other sight see car travel routes you could look into. There are private hiking trails that would be with a paid guide for almost $200. Someone could go on their own unguided hiking adventure, and I would call maybe to know of any and all trails in the park to be sure I’d be knowing about any trails maybe not known about. With such a large amount of land for a potential vacation I would be contacting them and there may be waterfalls and things along or near a hiking trail. Seasonal reservations and a printed permit is required May 1 – Oct1 for day use in Fossil Creek Permit area. On the first of each month reservations open for the following month. July reservations would open June 1 and etc.

Sorry I had other comments about this, and they were not saying anything about the photos didn’t appear. Unfortunate that does happen where the photos show on my end but not maybe where you’re at. I have seen photos in my archive where the pics did not appear, and I try to fix the photos if that ever does happen.
