Chevelon Canyon Lake AZ Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and new places to camp at. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com Information Center Black Mesa Ranger Station (528) 535-3213 Looking for a place to have a good vacation away from the everyday things. Then look no further, a wooded area with valley’s, streams, rivers, and lakes. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build your campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. Would be a good idea to bring plenty of drinking water. Chevelon Canyon offers spectacular views and opportunities for fishing and hiking. Have an Rv- Camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. There may be cabins in the area to rent or lodging available. There are some small trails in the area. Someone who likes to backpack will like this hiking experience. A good hike would be to follow the length of the lake nearby. Can hike and set up a temporary camp for the night and continue the next day. Wear hiking boots or sneakers with a good cushion sole for any hiking. Plan your days is a good idea. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies to communicate with your camping group. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later.
Canoes, kayaks, to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Water ski and wind sailing are popular. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. There are bass, crappie, trout, catfish, walleye, sunfish and other fish to catch. Can fish from a boat or along the shore. State fishing license is required. The daily bag limit is four trout. Have a cookout back at your campsite over the campfire or grill for dinner. There are many species of animals that can smell your food cooking from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with drinking water. Washing the dishes helps cut the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Have a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Bring an innertube or raft to play around in the water or relax and enjoy the scenery. Floating on a river you can just go with the flow of the current that will bring you downstream. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games or play cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip stones on a lake or river. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic tables. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Pet Policy- Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash at all times. Leash must be no longer than 6 feet. Please clean up after your pet. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. Leave a message if you like at the bottom in the comment section. Hi Jeff, thanks for bringing the Chevelon Canyon Lake into my attention. I do hike mostly in the Europe, but loving this experience. There is nothing better like this kind of scenery, with lakes, forrest, and hiking trials…that’s the place where human meets the nature in its purest way. Is it allowed to do bbq in nature area like this one in the U.S.? Because in the Europe are lot of places forbidden for open fire
Hello! AS far as I know it’s ok to BBQ unless there concerned about a fire hazard that causes a forest fire. Then they would tell everyone to not have a BBQ and so on. That’s definite a place I would like to take a vacation at myself. Another place I would suggest looking at is Havasu Falls at the Grand Canyon AZ. That looks like a good place also.
Hello! Yes, they will say if people can BBQ considering if it’s to dry or something. Havasu Falls would be a real good place to visit and camp out. The Grand Canyon is just as good of a destination.
Thanks for your post.
You have reminded me about my trips across the US and Canada a long time ago. Also, with camping activities that we can enjoy along the way. This Canyon looks stunning, but any area with such natural beauty is excellent for camping and enjoying the fun activities that you suggested.
It’s really helpful that you have provided what licenses and restrictions needed for some of these, so that you can be well prepared if camping in the park.
Is this one of several parks in the area that are brilliant for camping? Which is your favorite?
Thanks Jeff!
I like the Havasu Falls AZ location and Grand Canyon has several camping locations also.
