3720 Rainbow Lake Dr. Lakeside (928) 368-5286 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from the everyday things. Then you may have found a real good location. The facility has 165 campsites to choose from. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An Rv-Camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. There are cabins and lodging in the area. There are several hiking trails nearby to choose from. Have a good pair of boots or sneakers with good, cushioned soles for hiking. Canteen with cold water to drink along the trails. Could go backpacking and set up a temporary camp and continue the next day. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular activities. 
Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to talk to people in your camping group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Smoke from a campfire helps keep flying insects away. Have a small first aid kit in case needed. 
Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and enjoy the scenery. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Can go scuba diving and snorkeling for fun. Water ski and windsailing are popular. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are bass, black bass, bluegill, brown trout, carp, catfish, channel catfish and largemouth bass. (Need a permit for Rainbow Lake fishing) Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. There are many species of animals in the forest that can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing the dishes cuts the smell and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while your away from the camp or at night when people are sleeping. 
Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and the take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water. There are several activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. 
Take long walks on a path or trail and look at the scenery. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. There are playgrounds for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip stones in the water on a lake or river. Pet Policy- Pets are allowed and should be on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length. Please clean up after your pet. Pets are not allowed in some areas. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. I really enjoyed your article Jeff discussing a vacation to the Rainbow Lake Arizona camping grounds. This is going to be so helpful to families that want to get out and see a new part of the country this summer for vacation and just don’t know where to get started.
Taking long walks to see the scenery and sharing a picnic with the ones you love are both good, quality, wholesome activities that most families would enjoy if they only had more opportunity.
It’s also nice to see that pets are allowed because I don’t go anywhere without my toy poodle.
Are there alot of people who bring dogs and is it easy to have a dog with you while you’re there? can they walk around everywhere with you?

Is sounds like a very lovely place. My wifes dad lives in arizona so this sounds like a great place to go camping the family. I love the idea of a lake and being able to fish there as well and all the different types of fish you can catch. Definiitely going to try out your campsite. This is such a beautiful area to visit, especially with the family.
Do they charge you for catching fish there or can you catch and cook while you’re there?
