Cherokee Lake Tenn Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and new locations to camp at. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 9617 Highway 11 West Moore burgh, Tennessee (423) 272-3333 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have just found a good place to go camping. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. There are 89 campsites available. Find a location to set up your campsite. Build your campfire on a flat area to pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An Rv- Camper with a generator in case there are not any power hook-ups available. There may be cabins for rent and other lodging available. Panther Creek State Park is a 1,444-acre park located on the Cherokee Reservoir in the historic Holston River Valley. The park has 17 different hiking trails covering more than 30 miles of terrain at all levels of difficulty. Hikers can enjoy the views of Cherokee Lake and the Cumberland Mountains from Point Lookout trail reaching 1,460 feet above sea level. There are also more than 15 miles of Mountain biking trails. Someone could plan to go backpacking and set up a campsite and continue hiking the next day. Would have to have some sort of plan ahead of time for that. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along the trails. Have a good pair of hiking boots or sneakers that have good, cushioned soles. Walking, horseback riding, and jogging are popular on the trails. There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies to communicate with others in your camping group for a back up may be a good idea. Have a camera to look at the awesome scenery and have photos to look at later. Bug repellent would be a smart idea to have for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Would be a good idea to have a small first aid kit in case needed. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around and look at the scenery and have fun. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish on a boat or from along the shore. There are small and largemouth bass, striped bass, black bass, spotted bass, black crappie, and channel catfish. Have a cookout back at the campsite over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes with a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the forest that can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from the campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle helps to cut the smell and would be stored in a good location. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Water ski and wind sailing are popular. There are activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Can play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip stones on a river or lake. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic tables. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Have a hammock to relax on and maybe read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Pet Policy- Guests must sign a pet liability form upon check-in. Pets should be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Please clean up after your pet. Pets must be under control at all times. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. Leave a message if you like in the comment section at the bottom. Can click on my e-mail and leave a message also. Enjoy your camping adventure wherever you decide to go camping. Jeff

Tennessee has some beautiful areas. This is an exceptional looking park! Great advice to bring some walkie talkies, I would not have thought of that. It looks like an amazing park for swimming and fishing, both of which I love. I think that is probably only about 8 hours from me so I may give it a try this summer. Thanks for the info! Brian
Hi there, Jeff.

I have been to Tennessee a few times, but never have I been camping there. I definitely have to check this out. I am glad that there are parks because this sounds and looks like a good place where I can take my kids with me. I usually go camping alone, but this would be a great family vacation.
I really enjoyed your website. It was very informative, engaging, and easy to navigate. I especially liked the photos of each campsite you’d stayed at. You obviously have a great passion for camping have done a great job of creating a valuable resource. I did have a problem with this post in that the photos weren’t visible, perhaps they were just slow loading. But I did enjoy your site, well done.
Hello! Sorry about you did not see the photos. I just clicked on that, and the pics show on my end. It could be that they take longer to load. I saw something about should make pics smaller and I might do that with the photos of that article. So, when there sent it’s at the size for most computers.
Hello Jeff, This is a really interesting article about camping at Cherokee Lake. I was unable to see any of the images, which I am sure were beautiful. Not sure if it is a problem with your computer or mine. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading about this area, which seems to have some really great opportunities for outdoor activities. Definitely a “must visit” for those intrepid campers among us. Best wishes, Jenni.
