;;Coconino National Park AZ Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 1824 S. Thompson St. Flagstaff, Az (928) 527-3600 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found a real good location. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on a flat spot. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. Could take an Rv-Camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. There are cabins to rent and lodging in the area. There is tiny camp, Mormon Lake Lodge, and Oak Creek Terrace Resort. The Coconino National Forest has 1.856 million acres of land and natural beauty. There are several trails from short to long you can choose to hike on. Can go on a long backpacking adventure and set up camp for the night to continue your hike the next day. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along your trail hiking. Would be a good idea to plan ahead about what trails you would like to hike on. There are streams, lakes, and waterfalls at various places throughout the park. There are several activities you can enjoy such as Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, 3- or 4-wheel vehicle, walking, and jogging are popular. Fireworks are not allowed at the park. May be a good idea to call ahead or plan what area you would like to set up a campsite. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to have with a group of campers. Have a camera to take awesome photos to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfire smoke help keeps flying insects away from your campsite. Have some sort of first aid kit in case ever needed. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Have a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft and play around in the water or just relax. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games and cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. People enjoy hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing on the Coconino. The forest provides ample and high-quality opportunities to hunt and fish. The forest is biologically rich, supporting a diversity of wildlife. The forest is home to over 500 vertebrate species. Including at least 300 species of bird, almost 100 species of mammals. Have a canoe or kayak and paddle around the lake or river and enjoy the day. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Water ski and wind sailing are popular activities. Bring your fishing poles as there are many fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are rainbow trout, largemouth bass, catfish and crappie to catch. Take your catch back to the campsite for a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. There are many animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp and at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle helps keep food protected from animals. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. There are playgrounds at the park for kids to play on. The kids can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip stones on a river or lake. There are miniature golf courses at some locations.
Pet Policy- Pets are welcome in most areas and must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Please clean up after your pets. Pets must not be left unattended at any time. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. Leave a message if you like at the bottom in the comment section. Can click on my e-mail and leave a message also. Enjoy your camping adventure wherever you decide to go camping. Jeff GTM-T7JH657

I believe spending time in nature can relieve stress and can also help us to reconnect, I love nature as well and spending time outdoors. There is just something about camping, enjoying the trees, the plants, the scenery, and taking in the fresh air. Coconino park seems to be amazing. This is the first time I have heard of this park.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for this post about Coconino National Park, it sounds like an amazing place to visit.
You’ve provided so much detail and information on things to do. Would love to do the kayaking and really good to know about the limited cell phone reception, a set of walkie talkies will definitely be added to my backpack!
One of my things to do on my bucket list is hire an RV and tour across the US. I’ll add Coconino National Park to my places to visit now.
