I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and new places to camp at. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com P.O. Box 177 Russel’s Point, OH 43348 (937) 843-5392 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the place you were looking for. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An RV-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there is lodging in the area. Indian Lake is 5,100 acres located in west central Ohio and offers a variety of water related recreational activities. Visitors can boat, jet-ski and camp at this man-made lake. campers can enjoy the shade of large, mature oak, sycamore and maple trees. Heated shower houses, flush toilets, laundry facility and camp commissary. Pets permitted on all sites, beach, boat ramp and boat docks are provided for exclusive use of registered campers. Seasonal naturalist program, playgrounds, basketball and volleyball, and bicycle and boat rentals. Group camp area may be reserved for groups up to 60 people. Ten boat camping spaces are also available (these sights do not accommodate tents and there are no fire rings). Park offers naturalist programming during the summer months. A Dog field at old-field beach includes beach access. The Lake views at the park, which lays claim to over 800 acres of water. There are plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities there too. Several dozen species of migratory songbirds and waterfowl can be found in the spring and summer, and small mammals, turtles, snakes, and raptors can all be spotted as well. The visitors center has lots of exhibits and native species and local ecology and geology. The area also has a rich cultural history stretching back many centuries. Before European settlers arrived, Native Americans frequently traded along the stretch of the Miami River where the lake now sits. There are a few hiking trails someone could take walks on and enjoy the day. Have sneakers or boots with good, cushioned soles for your trail hiking. Canteen with cold water to drink along the way on your trail hiking. Can go backpacking and set up a temporary overnight camp and continue your hike the next day. Plan your trail hiking days so you can enjoy the visit to the park. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular. There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Walkie talkies would be a good substitute so that campers can communicate with each other. Have a camera to take photos of the awesome scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps to keep flying insects away from your campsite. Would be a good idea to have a first aid kit if ever needed. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Water ski and wind sailing are popular activities. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are largemouth bass, black and white crappie, saugeye, bluegill and catfish are just a few of the species that offer excellent fishing at Indian Lake, and fishing there is just as good through the winter ice as it is during the warmer months. Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one in soapy water and the other in rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the woods that can smell your food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle helps to keep your food away from the animals. Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on hot summer days and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water. Can float downstream on the current of a river and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Horse rentals is available at Marmon Farms on Rt 33, and the Mad River Mountain River ski area is located on the west side of the park, north of Indian State Park. West Liberty S.R. 245, located south of Indiana Lake State Park at the intersection of U.S. 33 and S-R- 245. An asphalt bike path is located on the west side of Indian Lake State Park, east of Pew Island. It is 3 miles long and the path offers spectacular views of Indian Lake. The cycle path can be used by walkers and joggers, but also cyclists, runners and hikers. Zanes cavern is located on the west side of Indian Lake state Park, east of Pew Island, and illuminate the cave on two levels. Known for its cave pearl information. This cave is known for one of the most famous cave formations in the United States and the second largest cave in North America. Indian Lake then known as Indian Lake Lewistown Reservoir, covered 6334 acres in 1893, with a coastline of 29 miles. The Ohio Assembly inaugurated the lake as a recreational area, under the name of Indian Lake. There are many activities you can play such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Can play board games or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Can play softball or baseball with other camp groups. There may be a miniature golf course at the park for people to play on. When winter rolls around, snowmobiling, ice fishing and cross-country skiing all become popular activities at the park. No matter what season you visit, you’ll be sure to find plenty to do at Indian Lake. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night . Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip stones on a lake or river. Have a picnic on a blanket or at a picnic table. Take long walks on a path or trail and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Pet Policy- Pets are permitted on all campsites. Beach, swimming pool, boat ramp, and boat docks are provided for exclusive use of registered campers. Pets must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and not ever left unattended. Please clean up after your pet. A limited number of pet campsites are available, and the group campsite can be reserved without prior arrangement. Park groups can camp simultaneously in the park for up to six people, but only for a limited period of time per year. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. Wow, Indian Lake Oh looks idyllic and the ideal place to escape the rat race in the city. I love that there is water as well as things to do on land like hiking, birdwatching, and exploring, as well as picnic sites and camping grounds to set up your tent.
Who cares about not having cell phone coverage? This is the time to be able to let go of those things and just enjoy nature without the distractions for a change.

Hello! Glad you responded. I wouldn’t mind not having a cell phone on a camping adventure. Others may say different lol.

Of all the places I think of Jeff when I consider trips to a lake, I have to admit that Ohio is not one of them but this review of Indian Lake camping area has gotten my attention and given several reasons why I probably ought to give places like this more consideration.
It’s nice that it has heated showers, flushing toilets and a laundry available to go along with the camp commissary where you can purchase any essentials or basic needs that may have been forgotten during the planning and packing stages of the trip.
