Then you may have found the location you were looking for to relax and enjoy your camping adventure. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything.                              Mazama Crater Lake camping is open only in the summer. Situated within Crater Lake Park opens and typically close late September. The exact open and closing dates are determined each year by the snow level in the camping sites, safety issues, and other factors. Is an awe-inspiring geological marvel. The lakes mesmerizing azure hues a remarkable depth of 2000 feet (610 meters) makes it one of the deepest lakes in the United States.                                                                                                                                            As you explore the parks rugged terrain and learn about its volcanic history, you’ll be captivated by the forces of nature that shaped its remarkable landscape. The campground is nestled in an old growth forest at 6,000 feet in elevation. There are 214 sites each with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear resistant food locker.                                                                                                                                  Mazama campground is tucked away seven miles south of Rim Village, just past the parks south entrance station near highway 62. It’s the perfect spot for your campsite or park your Rv or camper as your base for exploring the Park. Would be a good idea to be prepared for weather conditions.                                                     Never know at a higher elevation if the weather could change within hours and at what time of year. To have warmer clothing nearby in a situation like this would be a good idea to be knowing about. Any other equipment needed in that situation needed.                                                                                                          Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and look for a place to pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An Rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. Maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area.                           Some sites have electricity and the camp store you can purchase groceries, propane, firewood, and gasoline. The campground offers four accessible sites. The Annie creek restaurant and Gift shop, located in the village, offers casual-friendly American cuisine and crater lake souvenirs. The nearby Mazama Village store carries groceries, and camping supplies.                    Crater lake National Parks rugged volcanic landscape brings you amazing possibilities for backcountry wilderness explorations. In the summer with a permit, you can camp at the parks 5 designated backcountry campsites. Bybee Creek, Dutton Creek, grouse Hill, Lightning Springs, and Red Cone Springs. Dispersed camping is also allowed with a permit.                                                  In the winter, you can camp along the rim with a permit. You can explore open slopes, dense forest, and breathtaking views while skiing and snowshoeing on the parks trails and unplowed roads. For more information regarding campgrounds and permits please visit the National Park Service.                                                                                             There are thirty-three miles of Pacific crest trail pass through the park, offers a view of the mountains and via an alternate trail, spectacular vistas of the lake. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles on any trail hiking. Have a canteen with cold water to drink on your hike. Can go backpacking and set up a temporary overnight camp and continue your hike the next day. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, ATV, walking and jogging are popular.                                                             There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Can get walkie talkies to communicate with other campers in your camping group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed.                                                   Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the views and enjoy the day. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Water skiing and wind sailing are popular activities. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over a boat.                                     Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught while fishing at the lake. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are an abundance of small eastern brook trout and is a popular destination. There are rainbow trout and salmon in the lake as well. There are a number of other lakes nearby to consider as well, all of which have interesting fishing.                    Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes.                                                                                                                  There are many species of animals in the forest that can smell food from a distance and come to your camp hungry. Try not to leave food out while your away from the campsite and at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a car helps keep animals away from your food.                                                                                                                          Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on hot summer days and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft and play around in the water or just relax. Tubing on a river downstream floating on the current and look at the scenery and enjoy the day.                                                                                                                             There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip stones on a lake or river.                                                                                                                      There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Can play board games or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball.                                                                                                Can have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks in the woods on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer.                                                        Pet Policy- Pets must be on a leash and accompany you in the following areas. In Mazama and Lost Creek Campgrounds, and all picnic areas. Along established roads and within 50 feet of the paved surfaces. On parking areas and paved walkways. Please clean up after your pets.                                                                                        Mazama crater offers camping that combines natural splendor, outdoor recreation, and moments of tranquility.
