Then you have found a good place for a weekend getaway or for a vacation. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Silver Lake in Wyoming is a beautiful location for camping and outdoor enthusiasts. It’s likely you will find several Silver Lakes in Wyoming, so it’s important to identify the specific one you’re wanting to visit. The Silver Lake campground you’re interested in is a popular destination especially during peak seasons. It’s advisable to make reservations in advance to secure your camping spot. At just under 10,500 feet Silver Lake Campground is the highest elevation campground on Bush Creek/ Hayden Ranger District. It’s open in later June or early July depending on snow depth. Wyoming’s weather can be quite variable, even during the summer months. It’s essential to be prepared for fluctuations in temperature, including chilly nights, rain, or sudden weather changes. Locate a place to set up your camping site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with cold water to drink on any hiking trails. An Rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging available. The camp provides easy access to exploring the trails, lakes, streams, and glacial landscapes of the area. Facilities include 17 campgrounds with 3 RV pull throughs (trailers under 32′) picnic tables, toilet, water, fire grates, and trash receptacles with a 14 day stay limit. There are several hiking trails at this location that you can choose to go hiking on. Have a pair of hiking boots or sneakers with cushion soles to go trail hiking. A canteen with cold water to drink along your trail hiking. Have a backpack to set up a temporary overnight camp and then continue hiking the next day. Mountain bike, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular activities. There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute for campers to communicate with other campers. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. When camping its essential to follow the principles of “leave no trace”. That means leaving the area as you found it, disposing of trash properly, and minimizing your impact on the environment. Wyoming is known for its wildlife. While camping you may encounter various animal species. Such as deer, elk, moose, and other creatures like squirrls and birds. Canoes and kayaks to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Waterskiing and wind sailing are popular activities you can enjoy at this location. Jet skiing is lots of fun. Its a great way to explore the lakes nooks and crannies while taking in the scenic views Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can go fishing on a boat or from along the shore. Fishing is one of the recreational activities at Silver Lake. Rainbow trout are commonly stocked at Siver Lake to provide additional fishing activities. There are also cutthroat and brook trout. Take your catch back to the camping site to have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave your food out while away from the campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Can store food in a vehicle to keep away from the animals.
Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on a hot summer day and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water and enjoy the day. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Can play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of people can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. Children can make sandcastles at the beach or anywhere there is sand. Have a small shovel and bucket would be handy. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer.
