Then you may have found the place you would like to visit. review things you would like to bring along, so you don’t forget anything. At Patagonia Lake is tucked away in the rolling hills of Southeastern Arizona is a hidden treasure. Was established in 1975 as a state park and is an ideal place to find whitetail deer roaming the hills and great blue herons walking the shoreline. Hikers can stroll along the creek trail and see birds such as canyon towhee, Inca dove, vermilion flycatcher, black vulture and several species of hummingbird. The park offers a campground, beach, picnic area with ramadas, tables and grills, a creek trail, boat ramps, and a marina. The nearby Lakeside Market offers boat rentals and supplies. The campground overlooks the lake. The park is popular for skiing, fishing, camping, picnicking and hiking. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent at a flat location. have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An Rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. There may be cabins for rent and lodging in the area. There are a few trails nearby the park to go trail hiking. Wear boots or sneakers with good, cushioned soles for any trail hiking. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along the way on your hiking adventure. Any long trail hikes someone can bring a backpack to set up a temporary overnight camp and continue the trail hiking the next day. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, Walking and jogging are popular. There may not be any cell phone connections available in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies to communicate with other campers in your group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfire smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. First aid kit in case ever needed. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Water ski and wind sailing are popular activities. Scuba diving and snorkeling are Lots of fun. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish in the lake to catch. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are largemouth bass, catfish, and trout to catch on your fishing adventure. Check to be sure if you need a license to fish at this location. Have a cookout back at the campsite over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the woods that can smell your food and come to your campsite hungry. try not to leave food out while away from the camp or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle helps keep animals away from your food. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water or to just relax. Can float downstream on a river on the current and look at the sights and enjoy the day. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. There may be a miniature golf course at the park for people to play on. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on a lake or river. Children can build sandcastles and bring a bucket and small shovel. Can skip stones in a river or lake. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table, take a long hike on a path or trail and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require too much utensil use. Fruits, sandwiches, salads, and finger foods are great options. Don’t forget to pack some drinks and refreshing water. Don’t forget to have sunscreen, hats and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s rays. Pet Policy- Dogs are allowed and must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and not left unattended. Please clean up after your pet. Have a trash bag and dispose of waste properly.
