Arnold CA, 95523 (209) 532-3671 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the location that you want to be at. Review your things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Lake Alpine is a beautiful mountain lake located in the Stanislaus National Forest in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering, camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and other recreational activities. Lake Alpine has over 150 plus sites to choose from. There are plenty of sites along the water. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent at a flat location. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. Rv’s are welcome but there are no hook-ups, and a solar generator would be good in this situation. Portable water and toilets are provided. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. There is also Alpine Lodge where someone can get a room. Reservations for campsites can be typically in advance through the National Recreation Reservations Service (NRRS) website. It’s advisable to make reservations ahead of time, especially during the peak summer months when the campground can fill up quickly. The campground facilities may include picnic tables, fire rings, restrooms, and drinking water. Lake Alpines west shore has 24 single family campsites and is located at the north end of Lake Alpine in the Stanislaus National Forest. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers, and Rv’s (from 30 to 40 feet). Each site has a table, fire ring and grate. You can have up to 6 people, 3 tents and 2 vehicles per site. The Alpine Lake Trail circles around the lake itself. This is a relatively easy family friendly hike that allows you to enjoy views of the lake from various angles. The trail is for miles long and a get way to appreciate the beauty of the area without too much difficulty. There are a few more trails to choose from to go trail hiking on. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for any trail hiking. Have a canteen with cold water to drink on this adventure. Long trails set up a temporary overnight trail and continue your hike the next day. Plan your trail hiking ahead of time so you have ample time for additional things to do. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular activities. Weather conditions in the Sierra Mountains can be unpredictable, even during the summer months. Be prepared for varying temperatures, and ensure you have appropriate clothing and gear for your camping trip. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute to communicate with other campers in your group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Outdoor activities include boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. A paved bike path is also near the campground. In the winter, visitors can also enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Horseback riding and OHV are popular activities in the area. Boat rentals are also available at Lake Alpine Resort. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Water skiing and windsailing are popular activities. The water at Alpine Lake tends to be cold, especially at greater depths, making it less suitable for scuba diving without specialized equipment and training. Scuba diving might be restricted in certain areas due to safety concerns, environmental conservation, or other regulations. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught at the lake. Can go fishing from a boat or from along the shore. There are rainbow trout, brook trout, largemouth bass, black bullhead, and golden shiner to be caught fishing. Alpine lake allows non-motorized and electric motor boating. Take your catch back to the campsite to have a cookout over the campfire or grill. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from your campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Can store food in your vehicle to keep food away from the animals. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a dip at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water or to just relax. Stand up paddleboarding is a great way to leisurely explore the lakes calm waters. The water can be cold due to the mountainous location. Some people enjoy swimming at Lake Alpine during the summer months. Always be cautious about swimming in natural bodies of water and be aware of any posted guidelines. There are activities you can play corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games, monopoly, chess, or modern games like catan ticket to ride, or cards. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw around a football or frisbee. groups of people can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds that the kids can play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on a river or lake. Children can build sandcastles and bring a bucket and small shovel. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take a long walk on a path or trail and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require utensil use. Sandwiches, fruits, salads, and finger foods are great options. Don’t forget to pack drinks or refreshing water. Don’t forget to have sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s rays. Pet Policies- Pets are welcome and must be on a leash no longer than six feet outside of the vehicle and not attended at any time. Please clean up after your pet.
