Then you may have found the location you were wanting to spend time having fun or just relaxing. Review things to bring along with you so you don’t forget anything. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch a tent on a flat piece of land. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An Rv-camper with a generator in case there isn’t any power hook ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. Parksville Lake is a manmade lake at 1,930 acres. Has plenty of room for recreation of all types including boating, paddling, fishing and swimming. The Ocoee Scenic Byway provides easy access as it passes along much of Parksville Lake shoreline. There are several small Hiking trails available to choose from and always plan your hiking days. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for any trail hiking. Bears have an excellent sense of smell and are attracted to food. store all food, trash and scented items in bear resistant containers. Hang food from tree branches away from there reach is another way to keep them out of your food. Educate yourself about bear behavior in the case you encounter a bear anywhere. Be a good idea to not cook strong smelling foods and to cook away from your sleeping area like 100 yards may help keep bears out of your campsite. Making noises while hiking so that the bears hear you may keep them away and not walking up on them may put them in a defensive posture. If coming into contact with a bear would be a good idea to back up slowly to give space and maybe talk to the bear calmly and avoid direct eye, contact. Check the local forest service office or visitor center for any specific bear advisories. Maybe get a can of bear spray and learn how to use and the distance you should be away from the bear when using the spray. Be sure to know fishing regulations and acquire any fishing permits. Have a cookout back at the campsite over the campfire or grill. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the forest that can smell your food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from your campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Store food in a vehicle to keep food away from the animals. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer.
