Lake Dardanelle AR Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@maycampingvacationsites.com State Park Drive Russellville, AR 72802 (479) 967-5516 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have just found the location that you would like to have fun at or just relax. Review things you would like to bring along with you, so you don’t forget anything. Lake Dardanelle has 74 large and well shaded campsites. There are 30 full hook up sites and the other 40 have water (hook ups) Loop A (1 to 16) has 50-amp hook ups. Loop C (sites 25-53). D (54-65), and E (66-83) are 30-amp hook-ups. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring, and grill. There are no campsites 17-24. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on a piece of flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, and hot showers, an rv dump station, picnic day use areas, a visitor center and an amphitheater. There’s a marina and boat ramp/launch on the lake, as well as canoe/kayak and boat rentals. Firewood is available for sale from the campground host. There is no Wi-Fi at Dardanelle State Park. There are several trails that someone can go trail hiking on. Wear hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles about any trail hiking. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along the way on your hiking adventures. For long trails have a backpack with clothing and things needed and can set up a temporary overnight campsite and continue your hike the next day. Plan your trail hiking ahead of time so you have an idea about how many days you want to hike. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, ATV, walking and jogging are popular. There could be bears in the area and is a natural habitat and encounters with them are rare. They have a real a good sense of smell and could come to your campsite looking for food. While walking through the forest make noises so that bears can hear you approaching. Surprising a bear may put the bear into a defensive posture. If they hear you, they might go another direction away from you. Would be a good idea to eat meals away from your campsite like 100 yards so bears don’t come looking for food in your camp at night when people are sleeping. Maybe hang food or scented items on tree branches high up away from a bears reach. Storing food in bear resistant containers helps keep them away from food. Keep your campsite clean of scraps and trash. Dispose of trash properly in designated containers. Consider carrying bear spray as a precaution and learn how to use properly in case of an encounter. There may not be any cell phone connection in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies as a substitute for campers to communicate with each other. A camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case needed. There are black bears in Arkansas and rare to see while camping. The chance does exist that you can see a black bear. Make noises while hiking or walking along and that would let any bears know you’re in the area. They usually avoid people, but if coming across a bear you can startle them and put them in a defensive mode. Should always cook your food away from the campsite in case there are bears. Hang food or scented items up in a tree away from a bears reach if needed. Have bear spray and learn how to use the spray and at what distance to spray a bear. Be sure your campsite is kept clean from scraps, trash and have clean cooking equipment. Bears have an excellent sense of smell and can be drawn to small amounts of food. Dont look a bear in the eyes and back away slow if confronted. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery. Have a life jacket for safety purposes. Wind sailing and paddleboarding are popular activities. To go water skiing you may be able to rent skis at the marina or bring your own and any equipment and motorboat. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are several species of fish including catfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish, hybrid striped bass, white bass, spotted sunfish, striped sunfish, bluegill, warmouth, and crappie fish to be caught while fishing. Take your catch back to your campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other in rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the forest that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave your food out while your away from camp or at night when people are sleeping. Store your food in your vehicle to keep food away from the animals. There are playgrounds in the area for the children to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Kids can build sandcastles at the beach or anywhere that has sand. Have a small shovel and bucket so they can design anything in the sand. Kids can skip stones on a river or lake. There are activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball. There could be a miniature golf course nearby in the area. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require utensil use. Sandwiches, fruits, salads, and finger foods are a great option. Don’t forget to pack some drinks and refreshing water. Don’t forget hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s rays. Pet Policy- Dogs are allowed and must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and not left unattended. Please clean up after your pet and have a trash bag and dispose of waste properly. These are some of the activities you can have at this location and there is more.
