Greetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 261 Main Street Roxbury, ME 04275 (207) 545-0416 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your usual everyday things. Then maybe you have found the place you’re looking for to take a relaxing break away from things. Review things so you don’t forget anything. Siver Lake has 28 campsites that include fire ring, picnic table, 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical hook-ups. Also have free wi-fi at the pavilion, dump station, bath house with showers, laundry room, outdoor sink area, and a playground. This is Maines first State Park and covers over 800 acres. The park offers plenty of camping options including tent and RV sites. Be sure to check availability and reservation requirement ahead of time, especially during peak season. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent at a flat location. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An Rv-camper with a generator in case there are no hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. There are several trails in the area and a couple of loop trails near the campsite to go hiking on. Wear boots or sneakers with good cushion soles on any hiking trails. Have a canteen with cold water on your hiking adventures. For long trails have a backpack for overnight temporary camping and continue your hiking the next day. The trails cater to different experience levels and provide opportunities to explore the natural beauty of the area. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular. The caribou conservation area located near Caribou, Maine features hiking trails that wind through diverse habitats, including wetlands and forests. It’s a great place for birdwatching and wildlife as well. Prepare adequately for your hiking adventures, including bringing appropriate footwear. Have plenty of water, snacks and maps, or a GPV device, and essential safety gear. Please follow the no leave trace principles and respect any trail guidelines to preserve the natural environment for future visitors. Inquire about any current trail conditions and any seasonal closures or restrictions before embarking on your hike. There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies as a substitute for campers to communicate with their camping group. A camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the views and enjoy the day. You can bring your boat or rent one at the lake. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Paddle boarding and windsailing would be lots of fun on the lake. Could call to check if jet skiing is still allowed at Silver Lake. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species in the lake to go fishing. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. Some of the common fish species found in the lake are smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout, chain pickerel, and white sucker to catch at the lake. Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other in rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave your food out while away from your campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Storing your food in a vehicle helps keep animals away from your food. Lay out on the beach on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft and play around in the water or just relax. Stand up paddleboarding is a great way to explore the lakes calm waters. The water can be cold due to the mountainous location. Some people enjoy swimming at Silver Lake during the summer months. Always be cautious about swimming in natural bodies of water and be aware of any posted guidelines. There are many activities that you can enjoy such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Someone can play board games or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds for the children to play on. They can play laser tag at night and hide and seek. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. They can skip stones on a river or lake. Activities that involve balancing on balance beams or steppingstones can improve children’s balance and stability. Sliding down slides is a favorite activity on the playground. Running games like tag and freeze tag promote physical activities, social interaction, and strategic thinking. Jumping games like hopscotch or skipping, promote coordination, balance, and cardiovascular fitness. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and loom at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require much utensil use. Fruits, salads, sandwiches, and finger foods are great options. Don’t forget to pack some drinks and refreshing water. Don’t forget to have sunscreen, hats and glasses and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s rays. Pet Policy- Dogs are already allowed at Silver Lake Resort and campground. They must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet outside of the vehicle and not unattended at any time. Please clean up after your pet. Pets are not allowed in bathhouse, store, or campground. Pets must not disturb other campers with barking or aggressive behavior. These are some of the activities you can have at this location and this location and there is more.
