Then you may have found the place to visit for fun or just relaxing. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Cave Lake campground provides camping facilities with developed campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire ring and access to restroom and showers. Camping offers a chance to experience the serenity of the park and stargaze at night. Look for a place to set up a campsite. Build your campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An Rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. There may be cabins for rent and lodging in the area. Cave Lake Campground has 17 nicely sized single-family campsites and is located very close to the lake. Has 32 developed sites available to visitors. The campground is first come first serve and is open year-round. Elk Flat is the other campground at the park (open early May through mid-October). Cave Lake is located in eastern Nevada. Approximately 15 miles from Ely, a historic mining town. The park is situated in the Schell Creek Range of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and offers a picturesque setting with beautiful landscapes and opportunities for outdoor activities. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and showers. There’s also a boat ramp and dump station near the campground. The park provides camping facilities making it an excellent spot for a weekend getaway. Campsites are available on a first come first serve basis and provide a serene atmosphere among nature. The park features several hiking trails that wind through the scenic landscapes of Schell Creek Range. These trails offer varying levels of difficulty, allowing all hikers of experienced levels to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Have a pair of hiking boots or sneakers with good, cushioned soles. Canteen with cold water to drink along your hiking trail adventure. Can bring a backpack for overnight temporary campsite and continue your hike the next day. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies if needed to communicate with other campers. Take awesome photos of the scenery with a camera to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Cave Lake is an excellent place for wildlife viewing. Bird watchers can spot various bird species. It is not uncommon to spot deer and other small mammals throughout the park. The diverse landscapes and wildlife in the park make it an attractive location for nature photographers. In the wintertime the park transforms into a winter wonderland, offering opportunities for ice fishing and cross-country skiing. The serene landscape and snowy scenery make it an attractive destination for winter sports enthusiasts. There are canoes, kayaks, or using electric boats, rowboats, to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wearing a life jacket for safety purposes. Water skiing and wind sailing are popular activities. Non-motorized and electric motorboats are allowed. The calm waters and scenic surroundings provide a tranquil boating experience. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore and can be a rewarding experience. Fishing is one of the main attractions at Cave Lake. The lake is stocked with various trout species, including rainbow, tiger, and brown trout. making it a popular spot for anglers. Take your catch back to the campsite for a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Having clean dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals that can smell your food from a distance. Try not to leave food out while away from the campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle helps keep food away from the animals. Lay out in the sun beach on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water. It’s important to know that the lakes water can be quite chilly, even in the summer months. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water or just relax. Swimmers should exercise caution and be aware of their swimming capabilities. There are activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball and baseball. There are playgrounds at the parks for kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Organize a fun scavenger hunt for the kids, encouraging them to explore and discover the natural features of the park. Can skip stones on a river or lake. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Designated areas in the park allow visitors to enjoy meals amidst the beautiful natural surroundings. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Can lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer with other campers. Pet Policy-All pets brought to the park must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. This rule is in effect to ensure the safety of your pet, other visitors, and wildlife. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after the pets. Be sure to bring waste bags and dispose of waste in designated trash bins. It’s essential to keep your pet under control and avoid disturbing wildlife or other park visitors. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more.
