Goldwater Lake AZ Camping Vacation

Prescott, AZ 86303-8405 (928) 777-1121 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the location where you can have fun or just relax. Review things you want to bring along, so you don’t forget anything. There are 19 sites available for reserved camping as well as 15 additional, first come first serve campsite. There are restrooms and showers available, and an employee will hand out the shower code to paid camping guests and $20.00 per campsite per night. Locate a place to set up your camping site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. There may be cabins to rent and lodging in the area. There are several trails in the Prescott National Forest to choose from. Have a pair of hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for trail hiking. A canteen with cold water to drink along your hike adventure. For any long trails would be a good idea to have a backpack with a change of clothes. Can set up a temporary overnight camp and continue you hiking the next day. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular activities. There may not be any cell phone connection in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies to communicate with other campers in your camping group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case in case ever needed. There could be bears in the area and there usually shy and timid and try to avoid humans. Making noises while traveling warns the bears that someone is in the area. Coming across a bear and scaring them may put them in a defensive posture. Educate yourself and your camping group about bear behavior and how to react in case of an encounter. When camping be sure to store food in a bear resistant container and hanging food from a tree branch out of reach from a bear. Bears can smell food from a distance and at small amounts also. Try to eat your meals away from the campsite like 100 yards away. Chances of coming in sight of a bear are rare, so eating away from the campsite cuts the chances of them wandering into your campsite. If cooking at your campsite do so where you will not be sleeping at night. Travel in groups if possible and bears are more active at dawn and dusk and try not to hike at those times. Carrying bear spray and know how to use the bear spray and what distances to spray at them if needed. Make sure the spray is easily accessible and you learn how to use effectively. There are black bears, coyote, bobcats, mountain lions, mule deer, elk, raccoons and squirls to be knowing about. There are several species of birds such as eagles, hawks, owls and various songbirds. You may encounter various reptiles, including lizards, snake (including rattlesnakes) and turtles. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Have a life jacket for safety purposes. Being on the water can be incredibly relaxing. The use of motorized boats on the lake may be restricted. There are other lakes in the area that may allow motorized boats to be used. Stand up paddleboarding has gained popularity in recent years. It offers a unique perspective of the lake and is a great way to engage your core muscles while gliding on the water. If paddleboats are allowed, there may be a place to rent one and would be by the hour at the lake. There generally relaxing and you can go about paddling at your own pace. Paddleboats are usually designed for multiple passengers making them fun for a family and groups. Bring you fishing poles as there are many species of fish at the lake. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are many species of fish such as rainbow trout, largemouth bass, sunfish, brook trout, Gila trout, channel catfish, bullhead catfish, and crayfish to be caught. You will need a valid fishing license. Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave your food out while away from your campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on a hot summer day and take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube to play around in the water and relax. The children can build a sandcastle on the beach in the sand. Have a small shovel and a bucket. There are many activities you can play such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw around a football or frisbee. Groups of people can play baseball or softball. There are playgrounds at the park for the children to play on. They can play laser tag or hide and seek at night. Skip stones on a river or lake. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Kids can play freeze dance and when the music stops, they must freeze in place until the music starts. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Pack delicious foods to eat outdoors, such as sandwiches, fruits, and salads. Also drinks such as lemonade, water, iced tea, and stay hydrated. Would be a good idea to bring reusable plates, napkins, utensils, plates, and a trash bags. Pet Policy- Dogs are allowed and must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and not ever be left unattended. Please clean up after your pet and have a bag and dispose of waste properly to maintain and have a clean atmosphere for all visitors.
