Badin Lake NC Camping Vacation

Greetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations.                jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Badin Lake Campground                                                                                                        New London, N.C. 28127                                                                                                          (910) 576-6391                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Looking for a place to take your vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the location to have fun at or just relax. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. There are a couple more campgrounds in the area. Badin Lake provides sites for tents and RV’s. May be a good idea to try and make reservations during the peak season at this location. The area offers a variety of options, both developed and primitive.                                                                  The Uwharrie National Forest in North Carolina is a popular destination for camping, boating, fishing, and outdoor recreation. Reservations can be made through the official website of the U.S. Forest Service or through the Recreation. gov website. The campground amenities are basic facilities such as restrooms, picnic tables, fire rings, and portable water. Some campgrounds may have more amenities such as showers and electric hook ups.                                                                           Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An RV- camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. The may be cabins to rent and lodging in the area. There are campground fees that vary based on the type of site and amenities available. There maybe fees for off road vehicles. Would be a good idea to check for specific regulations for the area before you leave. Some campgrounds may have limited availability during the winter months.                    The Uwharrie National Recreation Trail is 20 mile long main trail that runs through the forest. Has a variety of terrain and scenery that includes hardwood forests, streams and rocky formations. The trail is popular for day hikes and longer backpacking trips. There are several other smaller trails in the area you can choose from would  be a good idea to maybe plan your trail hiking for what days during your time there.                                                                                                                                                              Have a backpack with clothing and other supplies. Someone can plan an overnight temporary campsite and then continue your trail hiking adventure the next day. Have a pair of hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for any hiking. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular.                                                                                                                                                                        There may not be cell phone connection in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkie as a substitute to communicate with people in your camp group. Take photos of the awesome scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. A campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed.                                                                                                                                                         There could be a chance that you come across a bear in your travels during your stay at this location. Bears are usually shy animals and avoid human contact if at all possible. Surprising a bear could put the bear in a defensive posture. While walking through the woods is a good idea to travel with a group of campers. Making noises would alert the bear to your presence and chances are would leave the immediate area. If coming into contact with a bear is a good idea that you don’t look them in the eyes and back away slowly.                                                                            Would be a good idea to cook your food at least 100 yards away from the campsite and eat away from where you sleep. Bears can smell the smallest amount of food and you don’t want any wandering through your camp at night. Store food in a bear resistant container. Could hang your food from a agree branch away from a bears reach and away from your camp. Having bear spray maybe in your backpack at an easy access to use would be a good idea. Learn at what distance if ever needed to use to spray the bear. Disposing of trash properly in designated containers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Badin Lake allows motor boats, making it a great destination for boating and water based activities. Has speed boats, pontoon boats, fishing boats, and personal watercraft (such as skis). Can go water skiing, jet skiing, and can bring your own or maybe they might rent equipment at a lake. Could go Paddleboarding and they may rent that at this location. Wear a life jacket and tie a leash to your ankle and secure to the paddleboard.                                                                                                                    Can check with management for suitable launch places at the lake. Avoid paddleboarding during a strong wind day. Windsurfing or wind sailing are popular activities. Can bring your own and maybe could rent one. There could be permits or regulations to sailing on the lake. Windsailing is enjoyable with a moderate breeze. Avoid wind surfing during thunder storms and bad weather. Strong winds can make it a challenge and potentially dangerous, especially for beginners. Wearing a wet suit would be a good idea for this activity. Someone could maybe go scuba diving at this location. Scuba diving does require a license at most areas. Can obtain a license at various locations. Usually means a class room instructional course and a diving instructor lessons to get a scuba license.                                                                                         Lake water temperatures vary on seasonal and location. Water at this location may be clear for a scuba adventure. Would be a good idea to maybe call ahead to plan for such activities. Lakes can offer interesting dive locations, including submerged structures, under water rock formations and flora a fauna. Can bring your own equipment or maybe rent at some locations. Check with local authorities and lake management about if permits or restrictions are needed to know about for scuba diving. Ensure your equipment is in good condition for diving. Wear a wet suit or dry suit depending on water temperatures.                                                                                                                                                Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the lake to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube to play around in the water or just relax. Children can build sand castles or other designs in the sand. Have a small shovel and bucket to use at the beach. Always be cautious about swimming in natural bodies of water. The Badin Lake swim beach has a sandy shoreline where kids can play in the sand.                        There are activities such a corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games, monopoly, chess, or modern games like catan ticket to ride. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds at many locations for the children to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Can skip sones on a river or lake.                                        Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Can take long walks on path or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require utensil use. Sandwiches, fruits, salads, and finger foods are great options. Don’t forget to bring drinks or refreshing water. Have sunscreen, hats, glasses, to protect yourself from the suns rays.                                      Pet Policy- Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and must not be left unattended at any time. Pet owners are responsible to clean up after the pets. Have a trash bag and dispose properly. Pets must not disturb other campers with barking or aggressive behavior. These are some of the activities you can have at this location and there is more. Leave a message if you like at the bottom comment section. Can click on my e-mail and leave a message also.
