Apache Lake AZ Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and new locations to camp at. 2324 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix Arizona 85006 (602) 225-5200 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the place you have been looking for to have fun at and relax. Review things you want to take along so you don’t forget anything. Apache Lake has the Burnt Corral campground that consists of 79 camping sites. Is a first come first serve with a picnic table and a metal fire ring with an attached grill. The best sites are near the lake that usually are taken first, so being there early would be a good idea to get a good location near the lake. Has a marina and lodge at the lake. Look for a location to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. You may need to purchase a Tonto National Forest day use pass at one of there offices or at an authorized seller location- gas station sometimes has the pass to sell. Does cost $6.00 a night to stay there (seniors pay $3.00 a night). The campground does not take cash to know ahead of time. There are a couple other campgrounds in the area to choose from also. There are several hiking trails someone can choose from short to long trails. Have hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for your feet. A canteen with cold water to drink along your hiking adventure. Plan your trail hiking ahead of time for how many days you want to hike. There is a 42 mile long trail for those who would want to hike for a few days. Have a backpack with change of clothes and other things. Can set up a temporary overnight campsite and continue your trail hiking the next day. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, ATV, walking and jogging are popular activities for people to choose from. There are black bears in the area and may be rarely seen. Most bears are in the northern part of Arizona and there have been some seen in this area on occasion. While walking through an area, would be a good idea to make noises so that bears are aware of your presents. Coming across a bear and startling them may put them in a defensive posture. If having a close confrontation don’t look them in the eyes and back up slowly. Having bear spray handy in case ever needed would be a good idea to have some. Learn how to spray and at what distance if ever needed. Cook your meals at like 100 yards away from your campsite. Have bear resistant container’s to store food and other items. Can hang food from a tree branch high up enough so bears cant reach your food. Bears can smell food from a distance and you don’t want a bear wandering through your camp while you sleeping. There are also coyotes and bobcats in this area. Various bird species. The Sonoran Desert is home for snake species, including the poisonous rattlesnake. it’s important to be cautious and aware of your surroundings to avoid snake encounters. There are a variety of insects, spiders and scorpions. Many are harmless but avoid handling them. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Can get set of walkie talkies as a substitute to communicate with other campers in your group. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Have a canoe or kayak and paddle around the lake and look at the scenery. Have a life jacket for safety purposes. Both non motorized and motorized boats are allowed at the lake. Can go water skiing or jet skiing. Wind sailing and wind surfing are popular activities. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught at the lake. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are many species of fish such as smallmouth and largemouth bass, yellow bass, black crappie, walleye, rainbow trout, bluegill, channel catfish, and flathead catfish to be caught while fishing. Take your catch back to your campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill. Have a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many animals in the area that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from your campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle helps to keep animals away from your food. Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on hot summer days and then take a swim in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube and play around in the water or just relax. Children can build sand castles in the sand. Have a small shovel and bucket to use. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Can play cards or a board game. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball or soccer. There is a playground at this location for the children to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on a river or lake. Kids can build sand castles or other designs if there is sand at the playground. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require too much utensil use. Sandwiches, fruits, salads, and finger foods are a great option. Don’t forget to pack some drinks and refreshing water. Don’t forget sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, to p[protect yourself from the suns rays. These are some of the activities you can have at this location. Leave a message if you like at the bottom comment section. Can leave a message on my e-mail also. Enjoy your camping adventure wherever you decide to go camping. Jeff jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com
