;;Pyramid Lake NV Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new location. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 208 Capitol Hill Nixon, NV 89424-0256 (775) 774-1000 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the location you have been seeking. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Pyramid Lake covers 125,000 acres. Making it one of the largest lakes in the state of Nevada. The color is spectacular and the color of Pyramid Lake changes from shades of blue or gray. The lake is also surrounded by unusual rock formations. A pyramid lake camping trip is like stumbling upon a lake in the middle of the desert. Pyramid lake is a remnant of an ancient sea surrounded by the beautiful Nevada desert. The lake offers excellent opportunities for fishing and other water sports. It’s surrounded by fabulous hiking trails in the Sierra Mountains. Start planning your trip and there are seven lake camping spots. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on a flat location. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An RV- camper with a generator in case there are no hooks ups available. There may be cabins to rent and lodging in the area. There are several hiking trails near Pyramid Lake to choose from. Have boots or sneakers with good cushion soles for any trail hiking. Canteen with cold water to drink along your hikes. Have a backpack and set up an overnight camp and then continue your trail hiking the next day. Would be a good idea to plan what trails your wanting to be hiking on ahead of time. Horseback riding, ATV, mountain bike riding, walking and jogging are popular.
There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie-talkies would be a good substitute for groups of campers to communicate with each other. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Water ski and wind sailing are lots of fun. Scuba diving and snorkeling are a blast. There are many species of fish to be caught at the lake. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There is Lohontan Cutthroat Trout, tui chub fish, cui-ui fish, Sacramento fish, and Tahoe sucker. Pyramid Lake is the only habitat in the world for the cui-ui fish that has been around for 2 million years. Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. There are many species of animals in the area that can smell your food being cooked and come to your camp hungry. Washing the dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. Try not to leave food out while away from the campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle protects the food from animals. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water or to just relax. Leave no trace- there will be no trash collection on the reservation. Trash collection sites will be reserved for visitors of Pyramid Lake. Trash and recycling locations can be found in towns and cities nearby outside of the reservation. The collection, excavation, or vandalism of archeological artifacts is prohibited on the reservation or public lands. Please be respectful of the lake and land as they are considered sacred and home to threatened and endangered species. Visitors who wish to camp and swim around Pyramid Lake must purchase a valid tribal permit. Permits may be purchased online at Pyramid Lake.US/permits, or at the Ranger Station, Sutcliffe NV. Speed limits will be strictly enforced. Be courteous to trivial members (and pets) as they cross the road or try to access businesses and services or there homes. There are playgrounds for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. There may be a miniture golf course at the park. Kids can skip stones on the lake or a river. There are many activities you can have such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Pet policy- Pets are welcome and to be quiet on a leash at all times. The leash should be no longer than 6 feet. Do not leave pets outside on a leash or in a pen while you are gone. There are vast areas outside the park area for walking and running your pets. Please clean up and dispose of pet waist at the park. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. Leave a message if you like at the comment section at the bottom. Click on my e-mail and can leave a message also. That opening photo of Pyramid Lake, Nevada is absolutely stunning Jeff and I can hardly wrap my head around what it must look like in person as opposed to the limitations of a two dimensional photograph.
You say it is like stumbling upon a lake in the middle of the desert which struck me as odd at first because of the mountains in the background until I realized that the mountains don’t appear to feature any foliage at all. Perhaps I need to broaden my horizons and check out some desert locations such as this to become more familiar.
Yes, this location is also a very good idea. Has many fish species that are not everywhere else in the country. I believe this is one of those lakes that use to be an inland sea in that area a long time ago. Very interesting location.
Pyramid Lake is the ultimate vacation spot! The lake’s stunning colors and unique rock formations make it a paradise in the Nevada desert. Camping here is like finding an oasis. There are seven camping spots to choose from, and plenty of fun activities like hiking, horseback riding, and water sports. Don’t forget your camera for epic photos. well I was searching for this kind of place and I want to thank you for sharing this post.
Hello again! This location would be a real good place to vacation at.
