Red Ridge Lake Pa. Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 61 Millers Rd. Zion Grove Pa. (814) 723-5150 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the place you were looking for. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. The facility reserves 65 campsites, each with a picnic table, fire ring and tent pad. Hot showers, vault, flush toilets, drinking water and dump station are provided. Some sites are waterfront where others have views of the water. Sites with electricity, water and sewage are also available. Two sites have rentable cabins. Amenities such as firewood and ice, interpretive services and 24 hour campground attendants are offered at the site. At Red Ridge sits on the eastern shore of the Kinzua Arm of the Alleghany Reservoir in northwest Pennsylvania, offering a peaceful getaway for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Recreation the campground offers swimming and bank fishing, with a boat launch nearby. The campground is located in a stand of mixed hardwoods, has two sections. Both sections are loops with the first one being a single loop and the second loop being a series of overlapping loops. On the western shore of Kenzuz Bay and some sights overlook the reservoir. The tent sites are walk in and closest to the water. The campground is convenient to the Longhouse scenic Byway. Firewood and ice are available in the area. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept cold. An Rv-campers with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. There are several trails in the area. Including the North Country Scenic Trail crosses SR 321, one eighth mile south of the campsite. Over 4000 miles long the trail stretches from New York to North Dakota. Has 100 miles of trails from New York state line to Pa. 66, maintained by volunteers of the Alleghany National Forest chapter of the North Country Association. Have a pair of boots or hiking shoes with good, cushioned soles for any hiking. Canteen with cold water to drink along the trails. Can go backpacking and set up a temporary camp site and continue your trail hiking the next day. Mountain bike riding, ATV horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular.
There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. set of walkie talkies would be a good substitute for groups of campers to communicate with each other. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have some sort of first aid kit in case ever needed. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Water skiing and wind sailing are popular. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Boating on a river has strong currents and rapids that can tip over your boat. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. Be aware of local laws about fishing. There are walleye, bass and musky to be caught and other species. Have a cookout back at the campsite over the campfire or grill for dinner. wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are animals in the forest that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle keeps the animals away from your food. Lay out on the shore and get a suntan on hot summer days and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or a raft to play around in the water or just relax. Can float downstream on a river current and look at the scenery and just relax. There are many activities you can enjoy such as cornhole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a game of cards or a board game. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. There are playgrounds at the park for the kids to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at there stars and constellations. Kids can skip stones on a river or lake. Pet policy- Dogs are welcome at this location. Must have a leash no longer than 6 feet and not be left unattended. Please clean up after your pet. Please keep your pet under control. These are some of the activities you can have at the park and there is more. Leave a message if you like in the comment section at the bottom. Click on my e-mail and can send a message also. Hey Jeff,
As someone who is new to camping and interested in exploring different camping locations, I have a question about Red Ridge Lake in Pennsylvania. The article mentions that the campground offers swimming and bank fishing, and I’m curious to know more about the fishing opportunities at this location.
My question is: What types of fish can be caught at Red Ridge Lake, and are there any specific fishing regulations or local laws that campers should be aware of? Additionally, are there any popular fishing spots or tips for a beginner like me to have a successful fishing experience at Red Ridge Lake?
Hello! good to hear from you. There are smallmouth bass, channel fish, walleye, crappie, brook trout, brown trout, northern pike, rock bass, perch, catfish and yellow perch in the area for fishing. For fishing locations, I would call them or maybe when being at to ask a ranger or people fishing where good spots for to go fishing. Locations and spots change from time to time. You can go online to get a Pa. fishing license at huntfish.pa.gov. Can visit in person to places to get a fishing license at 700 locations in the state. The phone number to call them for any additional questions is (814) 723-5150.
What peaceful and pretty photos! It seems like Red Ridge at Kinzua Arm in northwest Pennsylvania is the perfect destination for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature. With numerous campsites, beautiful views, and a variety of outdoor activities like swimming, fishing, and hiking on the North Country Scenic Trail, there’s plenty to explore.
I’ll make sure to pack the essentials including good quality hiking shoes, insect repellent, and a first aid kit! Thanks!
Hello again. This location has everything someone would like in a visit to the location. Has a super long trail that goes from NY State to there and then to North Dakota. That could be interesting for hikers. I wrote an article about Havasu Falls AZ that I like very much.
