;;Lake Fort Smith AR Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m, Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 15458 Sheperd Springs Road Mountainburg, AR (479) 369-2469 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the location you would like to have fun at or just relaxing. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. Lake Fort Smith has 30 campsites and 10 cabins and is a multi-use location camping site. Located in the Boston Mountain Valley of the Ozarks and has some really good scenery. Has a marina, swimming pool, boating, pavilion, picnic sites, fishing, dining hall, and mountain biking. The campground offers both tent and Rv camping sites. Some of the sites have electrical hook-ups, and there are amenities such as showers, restrooms, and a dump station. Would be a good idea to make reservations in advance, especially during peak seasons. You can check availability and make reservations through the official website of the Arkansas Park System. Locate a place to set up your camping site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on a piece of flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook ups available. There are 10 cabins for rent and has 2 group lodges with full size kitchens and could be other lodging in the area. Has several nearby trails to go trail hiking on, ranging from 1.5 miles to 16.9 miles. There is also the Ozark highlands National Recreation Trail that is 156.7 miles long. This would be a good back packing trail to set up a temporary overnight campsite and continue your hike the next day. Have clothing changes of clothing and other things in your backpack. Would be a smart idea to plan your trail hiking ahead of time so you have time for other things to do on this camping adventure. Have a pair of boots or sneakers for hiking with good cushion soles. A canteen with cold water to drink along the way on the trail hiking. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular activities. There may not be any cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies as a substitute for campers to communicate with other campers. Have a camera to take photos of the awesome scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Would be a good idea to know about bears camping at most places. Is rare to come across bears, but the chance does exist. Make noises while traveling through the woods would maybe help keep bears away from you or your camp. Coming across a bear and surprising it may put the bear in a defensive posture. Black bears are common in the region and would be a good idea to know how to behave around them. Storing food securely to prevent attracting bears to your campsite. If you come across a bear, avoid direct eye contact and speak calmly and back slowly away without turning your back on the bear. Learn how to use bear spray and have it easy to get to in case ever needed and learn the correct way to use. Use bear resistant containers or hang food from a tree branch away from a bears reach at a safe distance from your sleeping area. Keep a clean camp site by properly disposing of scraps, trash, and cooking residue. Lake Fort Smith State Park’s 260 acres are nestled on the shores of the 1,400-acre lake. Have a canoe or kayak and paddle around the lake or river and enjoy the scenery. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Sailing and wind sailing are popular activities. You may be able to rent a boat from a marina or bring your own boat. Someone can go water skiing and jet skiing or speed boats. Choose a boat of your preferences and the activities you plan to engage in on the lake. Would be a good idea to know specific regulations regarding motor boating. Rental options could include various types of motorized boats, depending on the availability and services offered in the area. You will need a valid permit to operate a motorboat and check about requirements and regulations for motor boating at this location. Safety is important for using a motorboat and be sure the boat is equipped with the proper safety gear. There may be speed limits and navigational rules in place to follow by. Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish to be caught at the lake. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. There are many species of fish such as smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, bluegill, sunfish, and rainbow trout to be caught while fishing. Take your catch back to your campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Washing your dishes cuts the smell of food and you have clean dishes. There are many species of animals in the forest that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave your food out while away from the camp and at night when people are sleeping. Store food in a vehicle to keep away from animals at your campsite. Lay out in the sun on a hot summer day and get a suntan at the beach and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube to play around in the water or just relax. Can go tubing downstream on a river and float with the current and enjoy the day. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games or cards. throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. There could be a miniature golf course for people to play on. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds at the park for the children to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Kids can build a sandcastle or other things at the beach and anywhere where there is sand. Have a small shovel and a bucket. The kids can skip stones on the river or at a lake. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an easy assortment of easy to eat foods that don’t require ant utensil use. Sandwiches, fruits, salads, and finger foods are a great option. Don’t forget to pack some drinks and refreshing water. Don’t forget sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, to protect yourself from the sun’s rays.
