;;Wellesley Island NY Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 44927 Cross Island Road Fine view, N.Y. 13640 (315) 482-2722 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the place you would like to have fun at and relax. Review things you would like to take with you, so you don’t forget things. Wellesley offers 414 sites and 69 are directly on the water and 172 sites have electricity. Wellesley Island is located along the St. Lawrence River and is part of the town of Orleans in Jefferson County. The camp has amenities such as restrooms, showers, a dump station, picnic areas, playground, and a swimming beach. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on flat land. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An rv-camper with a generator in case there are no power hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there may be lodging in the area. Has several hiking trails that offer spectacular views of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding landscapes. Have a pair of hiking boots and sneakers with good cushion soles for any trail hiking. A canteen with cold water to drink along this trail adventure. Most trail junctions are signed. Mountain bike riding, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular. There may not be cell phone connection available in some areas. Set of walkie talkies as a substitute for camper to communicate with other campers. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. There usual aren’t any bears in this area, but the rare chance of coming across a bear does happen every so often. It’s a good idea to make noise while walking through the woods so that bears hear you and chances will go the other way. Surprising bears may put them in a defensive posture. If encountering a bear walk backward or aways from the bear and don’t look at the bear in the eyes. Having bear spray can keep them away from you if used correctly. Try not to cook near your campsite and at least 100 yards away from your camp. You don’t want bears coming into your camp at night while people are sleeping. Bears have a real good sense of smell and can smell the food from the smallest amount of food. Hanging food from a tree branch high from the bears reach is a good idea also. Storing food and other things in a bear proof container is a good idea. Keep your camp free of scraps, cooking utensils, and scented items. The Thousand Island Region of New York is a paradise and offers a variety of activities. Surrounded by the St. Lawrence River and its many islands. There are smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, yellow perch, bullheads, and muskellunge that can be caught fishing here. Check to be sure about a fishing license and any other permits if needed. Take your catch back to the campsite and have a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner. There are many species of animals that can smell food from a distance and come to your campsite hungry. Try not to leave food out while away from the campsite or at night when people are sleeping. Storing food in a vehicle or container helps keep animals away from your food. Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on a hot summer day and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Usually, the water feels warmer to swim in at night at a lake, but the river may be cold. Have an innertube or raft and play around in the water or just relax.
