Page AZ 86040 (928) 614- 9146 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have found the location for fun or just relaxing. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget things. Camping is one of the best ways to see and experience the outdoors of this Arizona Lake. Page Lake Powell Campground isn’t directly on the lake but is close nearby. Is a popular destination for tourists due to the lake’s location. There are a couple other campgrounds in area as well. Has RV and tent sites to camp at. May offer basic amenities such as restrooms, fire rings, running water, trash collection and many other things. The town of Page itself offers a range of amenities, including a grocery store, restaurants, gas station and accommodation options. The marinas around the lake such as (Waheap Marina) may offer boat rentals, shops, guided tours, and dining options. Locate a place to set up your camping site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent on some flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. An RV-camper with a generator in caser there are no power hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there could be lodging in the area. There are several hiking trails in the area to choose from. Wear hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles during your trail hiking adventures. Have a canteen with cold water to drink along the way. Plan your trail hiking ahead of time so you have time for other things. Have a backpack with a change of clothes and other supplies with you. Can plan ahead for long trails and set up a temporary campsite and continue your trail hiking the next day. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular. There may not be cell phone connection available to far of the campsite. Set of walkie talkies could be a good substitute for campers to communicate with each other. Have a camera to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep away flying insects from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. Someone may come across a bear in this area, and it would be a rare thing. As there known to be in a forested area. There typically shy animals and like to avoid humans. While traveling it would be a good idea to make noises as to alert them of your presence Coming across a bear and scaring them could put them in a defensive posture. Don’t look a bear in the eyes and back away slow. Have a can of bear spray in your backpack and easy access. Learn how far to be from a bear and when to use the bear spray. Bears can smell food from a long distance away and come to your camp hungry. In the desert is a rare thing to see a bear. Would be a good idea to cook away from a campsite and eat away from the camp. Storing food in bear resistant containers helps keeping them away from food. Eating away from where you sleep would be a good idea about any predator animals. There are other animals in the area such as coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and lizards. There are various bird species in the area including, ravens, hawks, vultures, eagles, roadrunners, and a variety of birds such as dove and quails. Have a canoe or kayak to paddle around the lake and look at the scenery and enjoy the day. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Being on the water can be incredibly relaxing. Houseboats are an incredible way to explore Lake Powell. You can rent or bring your own houseboat and spend days or weeks on the water. Water skiing and jet skiing are popular activities you can have at the lake. They allow for fast exploration of the lakes smaller and more secluded areas. Motorboats of various sizes are commonly used wakeboarding, water ski, tubing, and cruising around the lake. Scuba diving is a fun activity for those who like to explore the underwater areas of a lake. Look at diverse fish species and look at under water rock formations and remnants of structures that were covered by the rising water of the reservoir. Wahweap Marina has been known as the starting point for dive excursions. Bullfrog Marina is another location where divers have ventured into the lake. Can maybe rent equipment at these two locations. Must bring the appropriate scuba diving equipment. Must be a certified diver at most places to go scuba diving at. There are various locations to get a diving certificate. That includes classroom and scuba diving with an instructor to get certified. There are many places someone can buy all the equipment needed to go scuba diving or snorkeling at places. Always prioritize safety for your scuba diving experiences. Familiarize yourself with places to dive at and conditions, potential hazards and recommended diving practices and guidelines. Some areas of lake Powell may require permits for diving. Check with local authorities of the National Park Service for necessary permits or regulations. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days to get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water or just relax. The children can build sandcastles and other designs on the beach. Have a small shovel and bucket handy. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of people can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds at the location for the children to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Skip stones on a river or lake. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Kids can play freeze dance, and when the music stops, they must freeze in place until the music starts. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on trails or paths and look at the scenery. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book. Groups of people can play volleyball or soccer. Pack delicious food to eat outdoors, such as sandwiches, fruits, and salads. Also drinks such as lemonade, iced tea, water and stay hydrated. Would be a good idea to bring reusable plates, napkins, utensils, plates and trash bags. Pet Policy- Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and never left unattended. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of properly to maintain and have a clean atmosphere for all visitors. These are some of the activities you can have at this location.
