Baker Lake SC Camping Vacation
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and to camp at new locations. jeff@mycampingvacationsites.com 863 Baker Creek Rd. McCormack SC 29835 (864) 443-2457 Looking for a place to take a vacation away from your everyday things. Then you may have just found the location to have fun at or to just relax. Review things to bring along so you don’t forget anything. You would need, tents cooking equipment, sleeping bags and other necessary gear. Locate a place to set up your campsite. Build your campfire and pitch your tent on flat ground. Have a cooler with food and beverages kept chilled. A Rv-camper with a generator in case there are no hook-ups available. Can maybe rent a cabin and there may be lodging in the area. At Baker Lake is located next to Lake Thurmond, near the town of McCormack, South Carolina. The location has 34 campsites situated along the shore of Strom Thurmond Lake. Has electric and water and accommodates Rv’s from 30to 40 feet. Each site has a fire ring, table and grill. This location has lots of amenities available such as a boat launch/ramp, BBQ grills, camp center, camp store, campsite tables, drinking water, dump station, fire pit, tables, restrooms with flush toilet, showers rv hook-ups, trash collection. Has a 71,00-acre lake that’s great for boating, canoeing, boating (non-motorized) fishing and water sports. The campground has trees that provide shade to the campsites. Check with authorities in Chesterfield Count S.C. to inquire about camping options, permits, regulations, and any changes that may change since last update. Check to know if there are any reservations someone can make ahead of time. There are a few hiking trails in the area. Have a pair of hiking boots or sneakers with good cushion soles. A canteen with cold water to drink along the way on your hiking adventure. For any long-distance trails someone can set up a temporary overnight camp and continue your hike the next day. Mountain bike riding, ATV, horseback riding, walking and jogging are popular. There may not be any cell phone connections available in some areas. Have a set of walkie talkies as a substitute for campers to communicate with other campers. Take photos of the awesome scenery anywhere to look at later. Take insect repellent along with you for those nasty mosquitoes. Campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from your campsite. Have a first aid kit in case ever needed. There are bears in the area to be knowing about. Make noises while walking around to alert bears of your presence in the area. Making noises helps from surprising bears and have them in a defensive behavior. You may not come across any bears but it’s good to know of their existence. Would be a good idea to have bear spray as an effective deterrent in the case if you encounter a bear at close range. Make sure bear spray is easily accessible. Storing food and camping equipment and scented items in containers or hang things from tree branch out of reach. Proper food storage helps preventing bears to your campsite. Lay out in the sun on hot summer days and get a suntan and then take a dip in the water to cool off. Take a swim at night and the water feels warmer. Have an innertube or raft to play around in the water or just relax. Swimmers should be cautious and be aware of their swimming capabilities. There are activities such as ring toss, corn hole, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw around a football or frisbee. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of campers can play softball or baseball. There are playgrounds at the park for the children to play on. They can play laser tag and hide and seek at night. Have a telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Organize a fun scavenger hunt for the kids, encouraging them to explore and discover the natural features of the campground area. Can skip stones on a river or lake. Have a picnic on a blanket or at the picnic table. Take long walks on paths or trails and look at the scenery. Can lay on a hammock to relax and maybe read a book. Groups of campers can play volleyball or soccer. Prepare an easy assortment of foods that don’t require any utensil use. Fruits, salads, sandwiches, and finger foods are a great option. Don’t forget to pack some drinks and some refreshing water to drink. Don’t forget to have sunscreen, hats, sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s rays. Pet Policy- Pets are allowed in most outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Owners will be asked to remove noisy and dangerous pets that threaten wildlife. Please clean up after your pet. Have a trash bag to dispose of waste. These are some of the activities you can have at this location and there is more. Leave a message if you like at the bottom comment section. Click on my e-mail and can leave a message also.
