Find a location to set up camp and pitch a tent. Build a campfire for cooking, nighttime vision and warmth. There are cabins or lodging in the area. Bring an RV or camper for this adventure. Have a power generator for the camper or camp site power if needed. Review things you decide to take with you to your camp site. Make a list of what you will need and be sure you have everything. Sampson State Park is located on the east shore of Seneca Lake. The Finger Lakes area is known for grape Vinyards and has places for wine tasting. A flat region with lots of fields for crops. Hiking anywhere, bring a canteen and keeps water cold for long hikes. Never hike alone and more fun with someone or a group of people. Bring a backpack with you on long hikes and cushion sneakers or boots. A camera is a must for awesome photos. Cell phone connection might not be available in some places where you decide to camp.
Lake Seneca is large and canoeing on a lake or river can be lots of fun. There are rapids and strong currents on a river. A lake has deep water, and a life jacket is a good idea. Can go tubing or rafting on a river is a blast. Bring your fishing pole for a relaxing fishing experience. Fish from land or from a boat can get interesting. I had a snake in the boat one time, and it slithered out and freaked me out for a couple seconds. Never saw the snake until we were in the middle of the river. Catch fish and take back to camp and cook supper on the campfire. A couple plastic large containers one with soapy water and the other with rinsing water for dishes. The smell of food can attract any animals to your camp if they’re hungry. Bears, Coyotes are in some areas and must be aware of your surroundings. Never leave food out while your away from camp or a night while people are sleeping.
Have a picnic and there are picnic tables at most camping places. Go for long walks in the woods and enjoy the outdoors. Take a dip in the water on hot summer days. There are playgrounds at most state parks for the kids. Tell campfire stories or play cards. Any board game can be played while camping. Corn hole, ring toss and playing horseshoes are popular games. A frisbee, football and playing catch with a ball and glove. At night can go swimming and the water feels warmer than daytime swimming. Kids can play laser tag at night.
