Staatsburg, N.Y. 12580 (845) 889-4909 A place to take a vacation or weekend getaway. Find a location to set up a camp site and pitch a tent. Has 46 tent sites and 10 cabins. Could bring a rv or camper. There is no hook up power sites. Bring a power generator for the camper or the camp site. Hotels and other lodging in the area also. The lake does have a marina for boats. At Mills Norie State Park there are many hiking trails. A long trail someone could bring a canteen with cold water. Bring a backpack and wear cushion sneakers or boots. On a thousand-acre park with streams and a lake. Be sure to set up a campfire and bring a cooler with food and beverages. Cell phone connections may not be available in some areas. Jogging and cycling are popular activities. Could go canoeing or kayaking on a lake or river. There are strong currents and rapids on a river and lakes have deep water. Wearing a life jacket is a good idea. Places that allow motorboats are good for water skiing and is lots of fun. Take a dip in the water on hot summer days. Tubing and rafting on a river can be a blast. Could go scuba diving or snorkeling. At night take a swim and the water feels warmer at night. Before leaving to camp out, be sure to review things so you don’t forget anything. Bring your fishing poles as there are many kinds of fish in a lake or stream. Fish from the shore or on a boat. If you catch any fish, bring back to camp and cook on the campfire for dinner. After eating be sure to wash your dish’s. A couple medium size containers could be used, one with soapy water and the other with rinsing water. Don’t want dirty dishes and hungry animals can smell food from a distance. Don’t leave food out while away from camp or at night while people are sleeping. Can go for long walks in the woods. Have a picnic and there are usually picnic tables available at parks and grills set up. Can play board games or play cards. Most parks have playgrounds for kids. Can play corn hole, ring toss and horseshoes are popular games. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw around a football. Kids could play laser tag at night. A telescope for looking at the stars and constellations. Two Pets are allowed and must be on a leash or crated and not allowed in some areas. Pets are to be supervised at all times.
