Has 174 tent and trailer set up sites. Located within Lake George region. Cabins and lodging are available in the area. Can bring a rv or camper and a power generator would be good for electric use at camp site as well. Be sure to have everything you need and review things before leaving to go camping. A sandy beach to lay on and get a tan. Take a dip in the water on hot summer days. Canoeing and kayaking would be fun on a river or lake. A river has strong currents, rapids and the boat can tip over. Wearing a life jacket is a good idea while on the water. Go tubing or rafting on the water is lots of fun. Scuba diving and snorkeling can be an adventure. Jump in the water and swim at night and the water is warmer. At Luzerne State campground you can go on a hike and many trails to choose from. Near Lake George is Prospect Mountain and on the top on a clear day can see five states and a 100-mile view. Having cushioned sneakers or boots would be a good idea. A canteen with cold water and a backpack with what you wants to bring with you. For a small fee you can drive to the summit of Prospect Mountain. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. A camera brought for real good photos of the outdoors.
Go for long walks in the woods and on the trails. Have a picnic and picnic tables are available at the park. Lots of activities for everyone. There are playgrounds for kids. Play a board game and can play cards. Corn hole, ring toss and horseshoes are popular games. Play catch with a ball and glove. Throw a frisbee around or football. At night kids can play laser tag and looks like lots of fun. A telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Bring your fishing poles and there are many kinds of fish to be caught. Can fish along the shore or in a boat. Have a cookout later for dinner cooked over the campfire. Wash the dishes in two containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinsing water. You don’t want to have dirty plates laying around. Lots of animals in the woods and can smell food left out. Try not to leave food out while your away from the camp or while people are sleeping at night. To have mosquito repellent would be a good idea. Camping to close to the water can have all sorts of insects. A campfires smoke does help keep flying insects away. I usually bring a lantern or flashlight with me while walking at night and the campfire does emit some light a little distance. Dogs are allowed and must be kept on a leash at all times.
