I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. Review things before you leave to go camping so you don’t forget anything. Find a place to locate your campsite. The campgrounds are divided into 2 different camping areas. There are 81 campsites at the park. Only 13 miles away from the state capitol. Bring a cooler with food and beverages. Build a campfire and find a place to pitch your tent. Could bring a rv or camper and a generator in case there isn’t any power hook up. There may be cabins in the area to rent and lodging. At McKinney State Park there are almost 9 miles of trails. Short and long trails in a heavily wooded area. Bicycling and jogging are popular activities. Can bring a canteen to have cold water to drink. Could go backpacking and set up a temporary camp for the night to continue somewhere else. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. A camera for real good sight sees photos to look at later.
Lay out and get a suntan on hot summer days and take a dip in the water to cool off. Go tubing, rafting on a river or lake can be lots of fun. Scuba diving and snorkeling are exciting. Take a dip in the water at night as the water feels warmer.
Canoeing, kayaking and boating on a river or lake is alot of fun. Must be careful as strong currents and rapids on a river can tip a boat over. Should wear a life jacket in or on the water. Insect repellent is a good idea to bring along. Smoke from campfires keeps flying insects away. A lantern a night for walking around to see pretty good. Light from the campfire emits plenty of light to see a little way. Bring your fishing poles as there are all kinds of fish to be caught. After fishing can go back to camp and cook the fish over the campfire or grill for dinner. Then you can wash the dishes in a container of soapy water and another with rinse water. There are many kinds of animals in the area and can smell food from a distance. Try not to leave food out while your away from the camp or at night while people are sleeping.
Could go for long walks in the woods on paths or a trail. Have a picnic as there are picnic tables at parks. Can play board games or cards. Corn hole, ring toss and horseshoes are popular. There are playgrounds at parks for kids to play on. Can play volleyball, throw a frisbee or football around. Play catch with a ball and glove. At night kids can play laser tag and hide and seek. Have a telescope and look at the stars and constellations. Pets are allowed at the park and on trails and must be kept on a leash. Pets are not allowed in buildings.
