Littleton, N.C. 27850 (252) 586-4121 This would be a nice place to take a vacation. Review things to bring so you don’t forget anything. Find a location for a camping site. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. A cooler with food and beverages. A rv or camper with a generator to have for power if there aren’t hook ups. There are cabins and lodging in the area. There is a pool at the park. At Lake Gaston, a dam forms an island lake 34 miles long and 1.3 miles across its widest point. Giving 350 miles of shoreline. Has a small trail but good for a quiet walk of about 5 miles. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. A set of walkie talkies is always a good substitute. Bring a camera as there are lots of scenery to take photos and to look at later.
Lay out at the beach and get a sun-tan and take a dip in the water on a hot summer day. Lay on a hammock and relax and read a book. Could go tubing, rafting on a river or lake. Swim at night and the water feels warmer. Go scuba diving and snorkeling. Water skiing is lots of fun and popular. Canoeing, kayaking, and boating on a river, must be careful of strong currents, rapids and the boat can tip over. A lake has very deep water and life jackets to wear would be a smart idea. Bring your fishing poles as Gaston Lake is very stocked with several species of fish. Has stripe bass, rock fish, largemouth bass, crappie, sunfish and a variety of catfish. Can fish from the shore or in a boat. If you catch anything, go back to camp to cook over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash the dishes in 2 containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinsing water. There are lots of animals in the woods and can smell food from a distance. Try not to leave food out while away from your camp or at night while people are sleeping. Take a walk on a trail or in the woods for scenery. Go on a picnic as there are picnic tables at the park. There are activities in the park as well as playgrounds for kids. Can play corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play board games and play cards. Throw a frisbee around or football. A ball and glove to throw around a baseball. At night kids can play laser tag and hide and seek. A telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Pet policy-pets may not be left unattended and must be accompanied by owner when leaving the campsite or camper. Please clean up after your pet. Pets are permitted at the resort and must be kept on a leash. Pets are not permitted in buildings, pavilion, or pool, and at most lake areas. Guests must arrive by 11pm. Guests arriving after 11pm will not be able to check in. You may park in front of the campground and await the arrival of the ranger in the morning.
