Review things to bring with you so you don’t forget anything. Find a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch a tent. A cooler with food and beverages. A rv-camper with a generator for places that don’t have electric hook ups. Would be a good idea to call ahead of time about campsite availability. A 24-room lodge overlooks Pennyrile lake. There are many lodges in the area as well. There are 13 cottages at the park.                                                                                                 At Pennyrile State Park, there are many trails to choose from. When hiking tries to have good, cushioned boots or sneakers. A backpack for those who may choose to set up a temporary camp to continue hiking the next day. Canteens are good to have for cold water to drink on long hikes. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. A camera to take awesome photos to look at later.                                                                                                                                        A canoe, kayak, or boat are fun to paddle around the lake. Wear a life jacket on the water is a good idea. Scuba diving and snorkeling are popular. Water ski and wind sailing are lots of fun.            Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish at the lake. Can fish from a boat or along the shore. Take fish back to camp for a cookout over the campfire or grill for dinner.                           Wash the dishes in two containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. There are animals in the area and the smell of food can bring them to your camp. Washing dishes cuts the smell of food and you would have clean dishes.Try not to leave food out while away from the camp and at night when people are sleeping.                                                                                                                                 Lay out on the beach and get a suntan on hot summer days and the take a dip in the water to cool off. At night the water feels warmer to swim in. An innertube or raft are fun to play in at the lake.                                                                                                                                            There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Play a board game or cards. Throw a frisbee or football around. Play catch with a ball and glove. There is a golf course nearby. Mountain bikes for riding on trails. Jogging and bicycling are popular.                                                                                                      There are playgrounds at the park for the kids. At night kids can play laser tag and hide and seek. Skip stones on the lake. A telescope to look at stars and the constellations.                                                Take long walks in the woods on a path or trail. Have a picnic and there are picnic tables at the park. Lay on a hammock to relax and read a book.                                                                                                      Pet policy-Pets are allowed only in designated areas and are not allowed in the restaurant or other public areas. Park management reserves the right to prohibit any animal on the premises that may pose a risk to their guests or staff. No more than 2 pets allowed per room/cottage.                                                                      These are some of the activities at the park.
