Review things to bring so you know you’re not forgetting anything. Look for a place to set up a campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. A cooler with food and beverages kept cold. A RV-Camper with a generator for power in case there are not any hook-ups available. There are cottages to rent and lodging.                                                                                         Kenlake lodge is a 48-room hotel with a good view of Kentucky Lake. Has a few small hiking trails to walk or jog and look at the scenery. Have good hiking shoes for hiking anywhere. A canteen brought for cold water to drink.

Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. A set of walkie talkies are a good replacement. A camera brought to take some awesome photos to look at later. Insect repellent is good to have as there are mosquitoes. A campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away from the camp.

Lay on the shore and get a suntan on hot summer days and then take a dip in the water to cool off. A canoe, kayak, are good to have for paddling around the lake to any location you want. Wear a life jacket for safety purposes. Water skiing and wind sailing are popular activities. Could go scuba diving and snorkeling.                                                                                                                                Bring your fishing poles as there are many species of fish you can catch at the lake. Can fish from a boat or along the shore. Have a couple containers, one with soapy water and one with rinse water.                                                                                                                   There are lots of animals in the woods that can smell food from a distance. Washing the dishes cuts the smell, so that may not attract animals to the camp. Try and not leave the food out while away from the camp or at night when people are sleeping.                                                5fb9c9a5ce56343bb736d15187dbe0d9 cropped 1672112507          Take long walks in the woods and look at scenery on paths and trails. At night they can play laser tag and hide and seek. A telescope to look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on the river or lake.                                                                                                                                            Pet policy- Two pets of any size for an additional fee of $30 per stay in lodge rooms and $50 per stay at cottages. 1. What beautiful images on this post.  As a kid, I staying in a hotel ( We called it a lodge.) very similar to this one.  I love to get into the outdoors.  As I have gotten older, I have left tent camping behind and now use a small class C RV.  It goes anywhere and is very comfortable.  The last few years I was tent camping I couldn’t get up off the ground in the morning.  You article has prompted me to book some sites at the lakes that I most enjoy.  Have a wonderful summer.
