;;Carter Caves State Park KY camping
UncategorizedGreetings! I’m Jeff and this is my camping site. I like the outdoors and different locations to camp at. https://mycampingvacationsites.com 344 Caveland Dr. Olive Hill KY 41164 (606) 286-4411 A nice place to go camping. A good idea to review things you plan to bring with to go camping. Look for a location for a campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. A cooler for food to bring and beverages kept chilled. A rv-camper with a generator in case campsite does not have power hook ups. There are 12 cottages and lodging in the area. There is a large pool a half mile from the lodge. The Lewis Cleveland Lodge to stay at is available and Carter Caves Campground year-round. Carter Caves Park has 2000 acres of land. There are several hiking trails and the longest is 9.1 miles. A total of 33 miles of hiking trails available. Does have 5 natural land bridges along the hike. A good idea to bring good sole cushioned boots or sneakers for any hike. Have a backpack if you want for a temporary overnight camp and continue the next day. A canteen for water to drink along the way. There is horseback riding, jogging, walking that someone can do along the trails. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. A set of walkie-talkies would be a good substitute. There are lots of sight see in the area. A cave system to walk through and enjoy the sights. A camera to take awesome photos to look at later after your vacation. http://carter caves horseback riding Canoe, kayak and boating are popular and paddle your way around Smokey Lake. Must be careful about strong currents and rapids on a river that can tip your boat over. Life jackets are a good idea for safety. An inner tube or rafting and follow the current downstream for an adventure. Bring your fishing poles and there are many species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or from along the shore. After fishing can bring fish, you caught back to camp and cook over the campfire or grill for dinner. Have insect repellent and there are mosquitoes and other insects. A campfires smoke helps keep flying insects away. Wash your dishes in two containers, one with soapy water and the other with rinse water. Animals can smell food from a long ways and clean dishes cuts into the smell of food. Try not to leave food out while away from the camp and at night when people are sleeping.
Lay out in the sun and get a tan and then take a dip in the water on hot summer days to cool off. Water ski and wind surfing are popular activities. Take long walks in the woods on paths or trails. Have a picnic as there are picnic tables at the park. Lots of activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. Throw around a Frisbee or football. Play catch with a ball and glove. Board games and play cards. Groups of people can play volleyball, baseball and softball. There is an 18-hole miniature golf course to play on. There is a playground for the kids at the park. At night the kids can play laser tag and hide and seek. Have a telescope and can look at the stars and constellations. Skip stones on a lake or the river. Pets are allowed at the park. There are 2 pets allowed and there is a charge of $30 per stay in lodge rooms. A cottage fee of $50 per stay. Dogs and cats are welcomed and can be left unattended in the rooms. Pets can enjoy over 20 miles of hiking trails on the property. Jeff http://my-camping-sites.com

Camping in Kentucky seems really fun! I am located in Canada and camping season is just around the corner, I really can’t wait! I was literally dreaming about going fishing yesterday, woke up and had to go to work… bummer!
What I like the most about camping is encountering wildlife and various species that I wasn’t aware of, even smaller ones!
I was wondering if your camping site is open all year long? How harsh is the winter there?
Thanks!
Hello! I think it’s open all year long. You can call ahead to know more, and I would call the park to be sure if its open all year long. The winters are pretty cold there, but Canada does get colder Id imagine, so getting use to the winter may not be that bad for you. It may or may not be open all year long and I would call them to be sure because they can decide to close at any time of the year, and it may vary from year to year if open or not. I have come across some animals in some places while camping. Its sometimes interesting and at night can hear strange noises and not know what animal makes the noise or something unusual. I know lots of animals, but it sometimes throws me off at night and a few times I had no idea what noises I heard or what makes the noise lol.
Great post! As I was reading I was thinking to myself. “ I wonder if I can bring my dog with me.” Then I got to the end and your answered my question. Thanks for this. This is everything I need to know when I take this trip because I plan on it very soon.
This will be the first time that I am going to build my own natural campfire so this should tons of fun.
Most places you can have your pet with you but must be on a leash and you must have control of your pet at all times. Some areas may not allow pets like in some buildings or maybe a beach and someone will be knowing that at the place and any questions someone can call them to be sure before making plans.
I was never a fan of camping years ago but things really have changed. There are some beautiful places that you have shown here in Kentucky and I like the fact that there is a kids playground for anyone with small children to attend. It looks a good one too. It looks to suit everyone, those who enjoy fishing, those who like hiking and perfect for site seeing. It’s nice that pets are allowed and we are getting to be more of a family and pet owner friendly world.
I like the idea that there are caves in the area as well as a good place to camp. Maybe take a guided cave tour and someone also could go kayaking or canoeing. Hiking is always something interesting and the sites.
This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to plan and enjoy a camping vacation. The author highlights several activities that campers can engage in, including hiking, fishing, water sports, and outdoor games. The article also offers useful tips on how to stay safe while camping, such as using life jackets when boating and keeping food away from animals. Overall, the article is informative and engaging, and it would be a great resource for anyone planning a camping trip. My question is, what are some other camping activities that the author did not mention in the article?
Hello! Does have a cave tour that would be pretty good to go on. Has the Horn Hollow self-guided tour. There is the Lewis Caveland lodge and the Carter Caves Campground year-round to choose from. Does have cottages to choose from also. Has 5 natural bridges in the park. There is fishing and paddle by canoe at Smoky Lake. There is an 18-hole miniature golf course there also. There are 33 miles of wooded natural trails to hike on.
I have never been to Kentucky Jeff but the Carter Caves State Park looks like the perfect place for me to be introduced to the state and also enjoy plenty of outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, kayaking and boating as well as checking out the stunning waterfall at the top of your article.
I am also glad that you pointed out for folks to be sure to pack their fishing rods and reels as I am always looking for an opportunity to wet a line and possibly even catch my evenings dinner and what better way to experience a new location than to do a little living off of the land.
Thanks for the reply. This location is really good for anybody. Has caves to go on guided tours all year round I’m told. The caves keep the same temperature or near all year long. Most definite a place to want to visit.
Hey thanks for this post!

Hello! nice to hear from you. This is a good place for people to take a vacation at. I’d like to see the caves they have their myself. There are small trails as for beginners can walk like half mile and 3 quarter mile trails. There are several trails from 1 and a half mile long to 2 and a half mile long trails. A few more trails from 3 mile long to 3 and a half mile long. You could bring with you water, a hat, a backpack to carry things you may need. maybe rain gear if it rains, Hiking shoes or boots, light weight breathable shirt if it’s hot, quick drying pants or shorts, water and snacks, sun protection, bug repellent, flashlight and extra clothing. hiking socks to avoid blisters.
