Olive Hill KY 41164 (606) 474-9727 A nice place to take a vacation. Review things to bring on this camping trip so you don’t forget. Find a place to set up your campsite. Build a campfire and pitch your tent. A cooler with food and beverages to be kept cold. A RV- camper with a generator in case there are not any hook-ups available. There are several cabins to rent and lodging in the area. Grayson Lake State Park has a 1512-acre lake. There are a few short trails that have many kinds of plants and animals. Wear good hiking boots or sneakers for any hiking. Mountain bike riding and jogging are popular activities. Cell phone connection may not be available in some areas. Talkie talkies may be a good substitute. A camera brought to take awesome photos of the scenery to look at later. Insect repellent would be a good idea to bring as there are mosquitoes and other bugs. A campfires smoke helps to keep flying insects away.
Canoes and kayaks are lots of fun to paddle around rivers and lakes. Has a marina to access all kinds of boats on this adventure. Water skiing and wind sailing are a blast. Scuba diving and snorkeling are lots of fun. Bring your fishing poles as there are several species of fish to be caught. Can fish from a boat or along the shore. Have a cookout at the campsite over the campfire or grill for dinner. Wash your dishes in a couple containers. One with soapy water and the other with rinse water. There are many species of animals in the area and can smell food a distance away. Clean dishes cuts back on the smell of food. Try to keep food put away while away from the camp and when people are sleeping at night.
Lay out along the shore and get a suntan on hot summer days and then take a dip in the water to cool off. At night the water feels warmer to swim in. Inner tubing on a lake or river is a lot of fun. Ride a current downstream on a river for a relaxing fun day. Wear life jackets for safety purposes. Take long walks along trails and paths and look at scenery. Have a picnic as there are picnic tables at the park. There are many activities such as corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes to play. Throw around a frisbee or football. Play catch with a ball and glove. Groups of people can play volleyball, softball, basketball, and soccer. Hidden Cove Golf Course is at the park. There are playgrounds at the parks for the kids. They can play laser tag and hide and seek. Skip stones in the water on a river or lake. A telescope to view the stars and constellations. Pet policy- all dogs must be leashed when not housed in an off-leash play area. At this time there is not an area reserved for dog play at this public recreation space.
